Cowboy10uk Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Hi all, despite having my MFDs currently mounted to a 12” screen placed halfway across my desk, I’m finding that I’m flying VR exclusively now after getting the Rift S. As such, the 2nd screen the MFDs are now mounted on is pretty redundant as I can’t see the darn thing anymore. I’m thinking It would now make more sense to remove the MFDs from this screen and mount them on the leading edge of my desk, so they are in the correct position when I’m looking about in VR, and subsequently be easier to use as I hopefully I’ll be able to train myself to reach for the right point in space while in VR. I was wondering if anyone has found a good solution to mount their MFDs like this, as I’m sure many of you using VR may have done something similar? I have seen a great triple MFD mount by Foxxy Mounts, but again sadly that looks like it mounts to his Hotas mount, rather than being standalone. Thankyou for the suggestion however. VpR81 Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) Well, i´m facing a similar problem as i have my Hotas and paddles mounted to my rig and there is literally no frame or anything that is meant to mount MFDs. I haven´t purchased any MFDs yet as i was concerned of about how to mount them and that´s how i ran into the Monstertech MFD mounts just yesterday. I think with that gimbal they could easily be attached to my sidemount where my throttle is attached. This beeing said, i don´t have a Monstertech rig. I won´t need to prepare my rig by drilling new holes or something, just switch the screw of the MFD mount gimbal. Got to take a look on that Foxx Mounts triple MFD mount though... I´m not aware of any standalone MFD mounts, but maybe you want to convert a center stick desk mount into a MFD mount? Wouldn´t that work? edit: I googled the "Foxx Mount triple mfd mount" and i could only find some pictures. I think it´s not some kind of specific mount meant to attach MFDs, but rather some kind of customized stick mount holding their MFD mounting plates. Similar to the Monstertech MFD mounts. At least that´s what i think i saw on these pictures. Propably that´s the way to go for you... reschke Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 I have seen people make a simple angled wooden mount that sits on the desk at about 45-70 degrees (I am guessing here) to mount their MFD's to either right in front of their keyboard or directly behind it. Warthog #1397...compliments of SimHQ
