Nemax Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 (edited) Hey guys At the moment I’m using a Lenovo Explorer VR headset with my new laptop to play DCS. I’m am though considering getting a Reverb VR headset to get better details in game. The big question is how much more demanding are these new VR headsets. Also any input on if its worth the upgrade would be appreciated. My specs: ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX502GW (Core i7-9750H, RTX 2070, 32 GB ram) Also my current living situation won’t allow me to get a desktop so that’s not an option. (Living hotels to hotels) Really appreciate any input! Gnadentod Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 You can run DCSW with an HP Reverb with this setup, it's borderline. No one should get below your specs for an Reverb and DCS. It's the absolute minimum. It does work if you run Medium DCS settings, no DCS PD, SteamVR SS ~110%, motionvector reprojection (FPS capped at 45, is smooth then). You can see it's pixelated but not to the extent that you can't read gauges. You will just think "it could be sharper", it will definitely bring you into the DCS world.
Dave317 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 I'm using a GTX 1070 at the minute with a 4.2 ghz CPU and 24 GB of RAM. It's playable with a reverb with minimal AI units. As soon as you start adding AI it crawls along at 10 FPS and isn't much fun. I'm looking at upgrading my GPS as soon as I can.
Gunnars Driver Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 You can run DCSW with an HP Reverb with this setup, it's borderline. No one should ... bring you into the DCS world. I Think you looked in the profile ? My specs: ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX502GW (Core i7-9750H, RTX 2070, 32 GB ram) This should be good enough, at least if they where desktop. Question is if the laptop can get suffucient cooling during longer periods of gaming ? If possible, you could have had a higher CPU Clock, but I dont think its possible by normal means… [T.M HOTAS Warthog Stick & Throttle + T.Flight pedals, Varjo Aero, HP Reverb pro, Pimax 8KX] [DCS Mirage 2K; Huey; Spitfire Mk IX, AJS 37, F-14, F-18, FC3, A-10 Warthog II and a few more ] i9 13900KF@5.8/32Gb DDR5@6400/ Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX4090, ASUS STRIX Z790-F , 2Tb m2 NVMe
Nemax Posted February 2, 2020 Author Posted February 2, 2020 Thanks for all the inputs guys. Sorry for the confusion regarding my specs, I forgot to update my signature specs. Gnadentod Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 I Think you looked in the profile ? I never looked into his signature to be honest, since he has written his hardware down in the OP. I can't make something of your question or what you're intending to get across ... His specs are literally the minimum you should have to use the Reverb in DCSW. No one should go lower than these. That's what I said and I can't find something wrong in here.
