leafer Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Buuuhuuuu, it's my dream!! Bill Gates, please, give me 0.000001% of your money!!!! :megalol: haha Just a wild guess but, with that 0.000001%, and after having bought TrackIR, you can buy yourself an Island with your own private air force. heh And bodacious babes. Lots and lots of them to maintain and keep your joystick up-to-date. Airlift me there when this happens, huh? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
G3 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 triggerhappy69: was just thinking about TB myself as my good friend watched the startup vid and was instantly horrified at just the start procedure :) a touchbuddy button for startup (if required or wanted naturally) would be nice. ps: love the pedals, and the hall sensor idea has to be better than killing pots. yellonet: i think you have the basics covered there, i would like to think eventually: TrackIR HOTAS Rudder pedals projector/s or large monitor or 3 th2go touchscreens with TB and full cockpit profile export of instruments to other monitors please mnemonic :) export of abris and shival (sorry unsure the name exactly) and a new pc. and my idea for the flight stick is to extend the shaft and mount the base under the front of the chair, this would improve things alot compared to deskmount or base in the way of legs etc, have you seen the base size of the fx force :D, needs converting to usb but also not a problem thanks to snomf. (fellow left hander, inventor of the left handed conversion for ch gear.) just finished an stainless/polycarbonate 8 slot gearbox (7speed and reverse) for my online racing so this stick mod will be a piece of cake. i am sure most of us have the skills to do such mods, like simply extending the shaft, (no jokes please :D) join some wires etc. keep the ideas coming and you better get busy, hate to be stuck flying the shark or a horizontal throttle... either that or talk to Urze, good one mate.
leafer Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Is there even a need for MFP if you have touchbuddy? Or is there something that you can do with MFP that you can't with touchbuddy...not trying to start a fw but really like to know. Btw, all the money I've spent in the past to play slight simulator, I could have gotten myself one of these. ultracruiser If built from scratch, meaning you do all the metal fabrication yourself, it can be had for around 5-6000 usd. My ultimate goal would be to buy a LongEZ but doesn't look like that will happen any time soon. heh Not unless I sell my sreenplay to Hollywood. Man, don't you just hate these names? Touchbuddy... LongEZ... ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
G3 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 sorry if i get this wrong leafer but in reference to DCS BS, are you refering to abris as mfp? i get somewhat confused with these acronyms if so, touchbuddy can have designated see thru areas, so if you could export the abris you could also add buttons around it etc. the possibilities are mind blowing to say the least :D and yes some names do have some undesirable connotations, need we mention the flak i receive for hanging out a the TB forum from my computer illiterate friends :D they call forums chat rooms, need i say more....
BBQ Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Geez--I really can't believe that thing is called "touchbuddy". I mean, it's got to be some terrible translation from another language, right?
G3 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Geez--I really can't believe that thing is called "touchbuddy". I mean, it's got to be some terrible translation from another language, right? unfortunately no:megalol: , but on a brighter note, once you have tried it you won't give a dam what its called or what other say, its pure brilliance. has to be one of, if not my most favorite enhancement for simming full stop. i could go on about it for ages but that enough for now. TOUCH-BUDDY, its a credit to the creator and his loyal helpers, big thumbs up lads.
leafer Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 ggg87, I meant comparing touchmebuddy to CH newest gadget: The MFP. Just be glad each time you log on to touchbuddy forum you don't get billed on your credit card. Imagine if the wife finds endless list of touchbuddy on your credit card bill. :D Dear...? Which buddy you been touching? The lil' buddy I know and love or your buddy Hank? heh Oh... which touch screen are you using for touchbuddy? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
G3 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 ok, my misunderstanding, yet i still standby the statements in my last post: has to be one of, if not my most favorite enhancement for simming full stop. TOUCH-BUDDY, its a credit to the creator and his loyal helpers, big thumbs up lads. ok then, :) from what i saw of the ch mfd, it had buttons etc with changable overlay printout. touchbuddy can be made with profiles instantly changing controls to suit what ever aircraft you desire, can be intergrated with other similar software for displaying gauges etc. no offence but the ch mfd's don't impress me other than the fact you are going to feel an actual button rather than just a touch (which you can receive audible and visual feedback for anyway in TB). as for my screens i use a 19" overlay which was supposed to be installed inside the monitor but i just have it sitting on top, approx $180 from hong kong sold thru ebay. will provide details if required, please pm if need be. many people just get smaller touch screens like 7 or 8" as a TB profile can be scaled to suit whatever size monitor you have and a lot of profiles are created by owners of small screens so they are designed as such. hell i used it for a while just clicking with the mouse on a standard screen. perhaps we should create a separate DCS-TB thread. better still go check out the TB forums and download the latest release and give it a go, theres not much it can't control, virtually anything you can do on the keyboard, but with macros etc, eliminating those multiple key press functions and allowing you to do complex commands with the press or touch of a single button/switch etc. ok thats it.:megalol:
leafer Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 touchbuddy can be made with profiles instantly changing controls to suit what ever aircraft you desire, can be intergrated with other similar software for displaying gauges etc. One last thing. Can you change screen graphics/control with a click or two without having to exit or pause the sim? The thing with CH MFP is that I bet it's a real hassle having to take the buttons down, inserting new graphics, putting the overlay back on, then rearranging the buttons...ouch! Easily a 2-5 minute task there. So you can display gauges and MFD with TB. Dude, I'm sold!!! I think I'm going to get a touchbuddy and TIR 4 before anything else. I can live with flying around using crappy joystick. I'm wondering how essential it is to flying BS with rudder pedals... Do you have pics of your 19" LCD? thanks ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
AndyHill Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 leafer, the best thing to do right now is to download the TouchBuddy software from the site (it's free) and test it. You don't need to have a touchscreen to do that. Of course you can't touch your buddy without the screen, but you'll see first hand what the profiles look like and what options it has to offer. ____________________________________________________________________________ DCS MUST have a dynamic campaign system and toe-brakes on an axis My blog full of incoherent ramblings on random subjects: https://anttiilomaki.wordpress.com/
brewber19 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 @ Leafer: I've screenied the TB profile I made, bear in mind I only fly the Frog but...gives you an idea of how you can customise what you see. Ruggbutt did a really good F15/Fighter profile as well. Both of ours are downloadable from the TB site. @ Andyhill: Couldn't agree more with your sig ;) leafer, the best thing to do right now is to download the TouchBuddy software from the site (it's free) and test it. leafer Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 Yup. Already done that but I don't have a sim to try it out. Also, every time I start the program it asks me to locate the touchbuddy.exe, but when I point the program to it, the exe file doesn't show up. I'm reading the touchbuddy forum to look for answer. Ahhh... didn't see the screen shots the first time. Niceee... ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Also, every time I start the program it asks me to locate the touchbuddy.exe, but when I point the program to it, the exe file doesn't show up. That's weird. You can also go to the Options menu and select the Toolkit preferences to set the path to TB.
leafer Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 Hmm. I downloaded the TB toolkit. I guess I should have downloaded the "touchbuddy 1.3.0 revision 18 full build"? Now which one do I install? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 We can discuss this over on the TB forums if you like. But TB is the program that you use with a touchscreen. It has no installer. You just extract it to a folder and run the Touchbuddy.exe. It does not ask to find the touchbuddy.exe like you posted above. The toolkit does that. Download and install the toolkit if you want to make or edit profiles.
leafer Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 Thanks. I registered at TB forum but couldn't post for some reason. I'd send zorlac a pm but it seems he's a very busy man. Again, thank you. Got it to work. Playing Orbiter in window mode and using TB in the background. Ok, no more post from me. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
