I was trying to launch GBUs without using the Auto or CCIP I want this for buddy lasing purposes, for example, I need to launch a bomb, but I can't launch it because I don't have a CCRP point, and I don't wan't to use CCIP. Is there any way to launch it without using that?
kengou Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 For buddy lasing, I would use the DMT in LSS mode to spot the laser and then drop in Auto mode on the designated point. Works even without a targeting pod. But if your sensor systems are degraded for some reason, CCIP would be my next choice, using a DMT lock on the approximate target area for ranging. If CCIP is also degraded somehow, there are backup modes, although I don't know if they are implemented yet. The following is from the Tac Manual: The manual bomb mode is DSL/DIR, selected on the armament control panel. It uses backup bomb sights, selected using "SITE" on the Stores page, or on the UFC. Set the reticle depression using DEPR RET on the UFC. It is a backup and it is not implemented, except that it can be selected and release bombs with it without restrictions. With this it skirts around the limitation of CCIP that the pipper has to visible on the HUD. So with DSL mode you can "kentucky windage" the bomb. Or use for manual lofting.
