Bengal Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Been hard at it with the P-51 and DCS. Absolutely love it. Have solved a mountain of issues one by one and that's been part of the fun. My current questions are: 1. Ventured into multiplayer last night but there was no ww2 action? Am I missing something? 2. Want to download the Charnwood campaign but none of the links work on the product page, including the 'module manager'. I'm Steam so not sure how to proceed. 3. I read where DCS is better apart from Steam. True? If so would I have to completely reinstall? And finally.....Rob if you're reading this Im an old 71st guy. Still read the website all the time. Your posts are what kept me interested during my time away. Thanks a ton. Parker
grafspee Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 1. Ventured into multiplayer last night but there was no ww2 action? Am I missing something? When new open beta patch is introduced, Mp servers need updating, it may take couple days for the owner to reconfigure or to rule out some bugs in mission design. For MP ww 2 you would need Normandy map + ww 2 assets, i think most ww2 Mp servers use this map, There is one server called Burning Skies using Caucasin map but this server tend to disappear from time to time from list server. Bengal Posted March 24, 2020 Author Posted March 24, 2020 Thanks Graf...just to clarify I have both Normandy and the assets pack. When I filtered the MP to normandy maps there was only one server and no one was in it.

You might have the stable version of DCS, whereas most servers are running the OpenBeta version. You CAN actually move between them fairy easily, without reinstalling it. Just search the forum on how to do it. grafspee Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Good point. almost all servers ww2 or not use open beta version. System specs: I7 14700KF, Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite, 64GB DDR4 3600MHz, Gigabyte RTX 4090,Win 11, 48" OLED LG TV + 42" LG LED monitor
71st_AH Rob Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 How'd you know I'd read this? Stop by the squadron TS for a chat sometime! 1. Hanging out on Storm of War DCS server, yes, the same team as CloD, it is on the Open Beta stream because the DServer application only works in Open Beta. Someday it will go back to stable. 2. The Charnwood Campaign from the ED store is not compatible with the Steam installation of DCS World. For the Steam compatible campaign you need to purchase it through Steam. The store site has a warning that it is not steam compatible. 3. I recommend that you go to the standalone version, much easier to keep up to date and importantly Steam does not get a 1/3 cut of the proceeds of each sale meaning more money for ED and 3rd Parties to invest in development. For a Campaign that means Steam collects about $3.33 for each sale, ED collects about the same and the author presumably around the same, if it is through the ED store I would assume the author receives about twice as much as they would through Steam. Hope you get it resolved and see you in the skies again soon!
Bengal Posted March 24, 2020 Author Posted March 24, 2020 Thanks Rob I will....I just got TS up and running again so how do I find you guys? So when moving to the standalone version....what happens to the purchases I've already made? P-51, Normandy, Assets, and Bodney? I'm hoping my account would remain and show prior purchases? About the time Storm of War was winding down on CLOD I stopped playing. Used to fly with Gamecock, XE and others. I knew you read these forums bc I saw your name on other threads and I lurk on the Aces High page all the time. Like all the videos you post. It kept me in the loop with all the latest.
