[REPORTED]Water reflection effect issue (low and med setting)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

When setting water to low or medium, the reflection effect is causing a sort of blurry effect around objects (ships).

I tried capturing it, but the video quality seems a little too poor to show what I mean.

This issue has been there for a long time now (always thought it was due to my cv1 settings, buy now I also have it with my Reverb)

Water settings to high and the issue is gone.

Easy to reproduce in any mission with water and ships (most striking to see from a distance. Like 5 to 10 miles away from the ship)

Only tested in VR (as said, both with a Rift cv1 and a HP Reverb)

I'll try to do that as soon as social life allows me some dcs time

(I use a very old low res monitor next to my Reverb, so I can't take high quality screenshots :()

So no one else is seeing this blurry (dark grey-ish) reflection around ships when looking at them from a distance? Or maybe just no one has water set to medium or low :P

Ok, so I did my very best to make some decent screenshots of this issue, but due to my low res monitor it is difficult to see... Please don't laugh :P

(on my Reverb everything is much more crisp and the blurry reflections are much more striking)

I think this video shows best what I mean:

But I also added a screenshot where you see no blurry reflection and one where you do see it. As shown in the YT video, this is constantly "fluttering" (sorry I can't come up with the correct English word). You might want to zoom in on these screenshots to be able to see what I'm trying to show here.

I also added a screenshot of my DCS graphics settings as well as my DCS.log (had to zip it to be able to attach it)

I'm pretty sure I'm not having any mods running. At least I disabled them all in OvGME.

Thanks, can I ask you to try shadows off or high and let me know if you see a difference?

Sorry, forgot to mention it, but that was the first thing I tried. No change though, hence I'm pretty sure it's a reflection thing.

ED, is it worth considering completely removing the reflection effect when water is set to low?

I guess maybe it could also help with performance

We do have this reported already, your post is related to the water reflection around or near objects.

I will mention your suggestion to the team.

Thank you
