Static objects not taking damage

Hi all I have searched the forums but cant find the answer, I'm placing BF109 and FW 190's on a airfield on the Normandy map as static objects to be attacked in my mission I'm working on, when testing it out, I come in guns blazing to attack them but they don't take seem to take any damage on the hits or go on fire, is there a setting I'm missing.

That's normal. They might loose wings and other things but never go up in flames. And if you want to destroy them, you need a bomb.
