INS precision bombing and offset points

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi,

Using all available tutorials / manuals / included training, the input of rho/theta for offset points and precision bombing is set in Nautical Miles.

But when entering nautical miles it fails miserably.... until I convert this in km and now it seems correct.

Something has changed recently with input units in Rho/Theta mode?

Thanks!

Edit: my bas apparently already reported and also buged for delta alt:

Rho has to be entered in km now indeed in the open beta.

No change for theta

Enter delta altitude of offset point in meters (right window in PCN).

INS bombing works fine with metrics value for offset point.

Thanks guys!

Should the cross showing the point on ground appear in HUD for the offset point? I had some strange floating cross behaviour in some tests I did !!??

INS: BAD Rho/Theta entry modified from KM/Deg to NM/Deg

Doesn't this say that Rho-Theta values used to be kilometers-degrees and has been changed by the patch to nautical miles-degrees?

Yes that's a bit strange as Zeus mentionned in last update that Rho should be in km and indeed it was the case in last Beta version. From the changelog, you could think it has been reverted back to Nm for Rho values.

Still downloading the update, so i haven't checked yet.

EDIT: Just tested it, indeed Rho-Theta values are now back to Nm/Degrees, which makes sense IMO (i was a bit surprise with the Km/Degrees). Issue on Offset Altitude entry windows in feet is still there (https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4266905&postcount=15). Seems to be only a display issue, but quite disturbing.

Still nothing about the magical INS update bug that has been there for years now?

No, still hasn't even been officially acknowledged so who Knows if it will ever be changed. This is what I mean when I say I wish they were more specific about what the intended end state of these EA modules is.
