jorgesoo Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 I had been flying Falcon 4 for years using a Thrustmaster Cougar Hotas, with a DX profile that gave it the exactly same functions as the real Viper F16 hotas.- As I am a fan of carrier operations, which Falcon 4 included sometime ago, also flew the F18 using the same profile.- I heard of an extremely real carrier operations pack coming along, so I am switching to DCS for that purpouse. But I am worried about the programability of my Cougar with the DCS F18, specially the radar cursors, antena elevation, and range knob. I expect it can be programmed within the game controls page, as I really dont want to involve into complicated programming with TM Foxy or Target. I would be very thankfull to hear opinions about it . Thanks
Bunny Clark Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 DCS can assign button and axis mappings nativity within the game, similar to, but better, than with the Falcon 4 alternative launcher. You shouldn't have much trouble with it. The stick has more buttons than the Hornet stick, and the throttle will have fewer buttons. Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. Thanks Bunny Clark I was worried about problems I heard related with the radar cursors which couldnt be mapped properly
Phil C6 Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Hi no prob with radar cursor just assign axis of microstick to the axis of the radar cursor in DCS. Personnally I have prob only with antenna elevation (because after you found the good elevation you need to put the axis in neutral), didn't find a good solution yet Best regards
Bunny Clark Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Personnally I have prob only with antenna elevation (because after you found the good elevation you need to put the axis in neutral), didn't find a good solution yet I'd recommend using the Man Range knob for elevation instead, you at least get a center mark that way. I've also found dialing down the axis saturation a lot to be helpful. Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. Bunny's: Form-Fillable Controller Layout PDFs | HOTAS Kneeboards | Checklist Kneeboards
