D4n Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Hi, ingame AKG flies mach 1.0. Internet sources that I saw say Mach 0.8-0.9, is this a bug or is M 1.0 intended speed? foxwxl Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 You have the M1.0 speed on sea level or at HIGH cruise settings? Deka Ironwork Tester Team
D4n Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 HIGH setting. foxwxl Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 I think it is probably a sim limitation, the missile need that thrust to maintain appropriate speed at sea level, and in high altitude the drag is much lower so the missile speed up. Deka Ironwork Tester Team
Tiger-II Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 No comment! How can basic thrust/drag profiles be so messed up? It's 2020. This kind of thing is BASIC. I know it's a DCS problem. shaHeen-1 Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 I think it is probably a sim limitation, the missile need that thrust to maintain appropriate speed at sea level, and in high altitude the drag is much lower so the missile speed up. So... If the missile range is dependent on battery/fuel, the 802akg can be sent much further in High cruise than 70-80nm?
Tiger-II Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 So... If the missile range is dependent on battery/fuel, the 802akg can be sent much further in High cruise than 70-80nm? IRL I think yes, as TAS is higher, range is much further. I would expect to need to fly it higher to get max range. foxwxl Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 So... If the missile range is dependent on battery/fuel, the 802akg can be sent much further in High cruise than 70-80nm? The missile have an approximate life time of 11:30(IIRC), around 220KM range for low altitude. So if it fly faster, yes, it will fly a greater range. High altitude give a lower drag than low altitude, this is the reason for HIGH cruise settings. Do remember, fly high will increase the possibility being fired upon by SAM. Deka Ironwork Tester Team
shaHeen-1 Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 11:30 =690secs=0.192 hrs. Suppose low altitude speed = 0.8M = 988kph. Distance =190km High alt speed = 1M = 1235kph. Distance=237km

Tiger-II Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 That 0.1 Mach number MATTERS!! Motorola 68000 | 1 Mb | Debug port "When performing a forced landing, fly the aircraft as far into the crash as possible." - Bob Hoover.
