Please note the dates and times in the screenshots. Public online almanac reports that June 20th, 2016 (1 day off the default ME date) is the date of the Full Moon.

Does this look like midnight anywhere you live?

Black Sea:

8LpLo1q.pngCaucasus doesn't look too bad, but possibly still a little on the bright side. I don't know if this is a global setting, or specific to each map.

As having walked through many a woods at night under full moons, ya looks good to me, Especially in the Desert. Can always adjust your gamma settings too.

I have flown many nights across the desert (as an instructor). It was many years ago, but I do not remember being able to determine accurately the color of the terrain like that, even under the brightest moonlight. And I don't remember a blue glow from the horizon in all directions, and no stars under clear skies at midnight.

But it's been many years, and my flying is east of the Rockies now...

I agree with your post... the illumination of the moon in 2.5.6 is too bright when using a reasonable gamma that looks good in daylight hours (I use 1.8 per Wags' suggestion). A gamma of 1.2 through 1.4 with moon shining looks more realistic, but I then tend to get some pretty unsightly color banding in the sky and the cockpits get pretty dark.
