I am using the Logitech X56 mode switch as a modifier so I can avoid using the Logitech software. Unfortunately the thing is going insane and not doing what I want. I'm hoping I am doing something wrong that is easy to correct.

The modes are as follows:

MODE 1 JOY_BTN34

MODE 2 JOY_BTN35

MODE 3 JOY_BTN36

So I start the game and go through the modes while in the control settings:

34 does nothing

35 works

36 thinks it's 35

35 thinks it's 36

34 thinks it's 36

35 works

36 thinks it's 35

35 thinks it's 34

34 thinks it's 35

35 thinks it's 34

36 works

35 works

34 thinks it's 35

35 thinks it's 36

36 does nothing

35 works

34 thinks it's 35

35 thinks it's 36 and so on

:cry::mad::badmood::wallbash:

Any ideas before I check myself into a mental home.

At first I would turn the mode switch to let's say BTN_34 and press the other button, like A or whatever, and it went crazy like in my op. I just tried it another way, press the A button (or whatever) the chose the modifier BTN_34 from the modifier drop down list, and now it doesn't work at all.

I don't have first hand experience, but my Dad have one and told me about something related to that mod selector bug.. What he do is simply open the X56 settings of both the stick and throttle in the windows controller panel, then probably test a bit, then close.. Then it works again.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Make the change and use the software.

Honestly it will open up the joystick and throttle to no end of possibilities.

I'm just getting back in to the huey. As it's pretty simple I thought I wouldn't bother with the Saitek software, 1 week later, I've programmed it all in.

You have to clear the profile in the systems tray in order to get the mode switches to work. Just open your systems tray at the bottom right, right click the saitek icon and choose clear. You'll have to do this every time.

I cant see clearing the sys tray will have any effect. the problem is DCS doesnt know the current reading of the mode switch when the other button is pressed, as its just sitting there quietly. It can only see the state-change when it switches from one mode to the next. You'd have to simultaneously press the button then change to desired mode to capture the two actions.

The programming software will allow you to set up the mode switch as 3 different shift-states to get more button assignments.

You don't clear the system tray. You clear the default profile that automatically starts at boot up. The icon is in the system tray. Right click the icon you'll see the option to clear the profile. Then you can use the mode switch. I use it for 3 mode switch flaps when flying the Hornet.
