nwagtmustang Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 So I go back and forth between trackir and vr. I'm using oculus rift s which is better than my original vive. What I notice with track ir is that I dont have to move my head as much from side to side when looking out of the plane. Its easier for me to look back. Yes I understand with trackir the reason why. If you had to move your head all the way back, you cant see the monitor. With vr I really have to move my head all the way back to see what's behind me. Yes I know that is how it is in real life. However I'm not a fighter pilot. It's easier on my neck using trackir than vr. However I prefer vr. Is there a way to change setting for vr so I dont have to move my head all the way back?
Lange_666 Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 You can try OpenTrack to amplify your head movement in VR. Needs a bit of trial and error though to find the sweet spot. Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
donkeyrider Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I prefer to move my head all the way back to see something behind me. The reason for this is that I have much better orientation - i.e. I know where the object is relative to me. With Track IR it was much easier to get disorientated because the head movement didn't track 1 to 1 with what was happening on the monitor. What can help is getting a swivel chair - instead of turning your head entirely around, just rotate your body in the chair. Far from realistic but if it works for you... Best of luck.
Knock-Knock Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 You shouldnt try to mimic an owl, but instead twist in your seat/chair and look, just like the real jockeys do. To check my six, I place my left shoulder where my right shoulder is/would be (roughly), when sitting normally, and look around the 'headrest'. So I shuffle around in the seat to see what is going on back there. And Im pretty sure, that adding any kind of a curve to the VR tracking will make you nauseous very fast. Its what really makes VR good, the 1:1 tracking. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
