When I learned of the advice to delete metashaders and clean fxo folder after every update, I haven't noticed any drops of performance and if anything, helped to have stable performance after pretty much every update.

To be clear, speaking of (C:\Users\XXXX\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\metashaders2, C:\Users\XXXX\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\fxo, D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\terrains\FOR_EVERY_TERRAIN\misc\metacache\dcs and D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\terrains\FOR_EVERY_TERRAIN\misc\shadercache)

Only downside of this is everytime after an update, every terrain and game loading takes a little longer, but if that helps to prevent potential issues, I think it's an option everyone would prefer.

What I'd like to suggest it to implement clearing of these folders to the DCS updater application, so after every update they get automatically cleaned during the update without players having to worry about that. I bet there are a lot of players unaware of this and they could have issues because of having older shaders installed so having this clearing automated could help a lot.

Is it possible to forward this to the devs to take a look at?

Elite Dangerous does that, either after an update of their own software, or after a video driver change.

On the other hand, i never bothered with them until i went VR and stumbled on this solution to prevent stutter/low FPS.

Honestly, i never saw any difference, nor does it solve anything or ups the FPS by even one single frame so i stopped deleting them.

If it's really that important to do, ED could have done it a long time ago instead of people let doing this manually "each" update.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
