Beirut Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Hello, I haven't figured out how to release multiple GBU-38s on a single target, is it possible? My controls lock at 1 per target, but with laser guided I can drop multiple bombs on one target. Thanks. Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
kengou Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 How are you designating the targets for the GBU-38s? Only by using targets via they CAS page can you designate multiple targets at once for multiple JDAM release. You can do this either be entering target coordinates manually in the cas page, or via F10 marks and then imported. Via the targeting pod or via waypoint designation, you can only release Bombs against one target at a time. Beirut Posted May 5, 2020 Author Posted May 5, 2020 I'm designating the target(s) on the runway through the F10 page. I have no problem designating and hitting multiple targets, but I can't get more than one bomb per target. With LGB I can drop any number of bombs on one target. Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but I want to hit one target with multiple GBU-38s but the controls seem to be locked at one bomb per target max. Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
hlfritz Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 you have to assign the same target from the CAS page to multiple target points. assign the target to T1 (example) as usual, then go back to the CAS page, hit use again, then assign it to T2, rinse and repeat until you have the same target from the CAS page assigned to 4 target points. Then when you select the targets to drop against when you select the J82, select all those target points you programmed (T1, T2, et al). Hope this helps and works for you.

I tried that a few days ago and it works, and thank you for responding. I appreciate the help. It just seems weird that you can't assign more than one bomb to a target. hlfritz Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 nice! i believe that is the system, not DCS. i believe it is simulated properly.
rinkerbuck Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 oh didnt know you could do that. That might actually help get a hit on predesignated vehicles... usually they dont hit close enough in preplanned mode
hlfritz Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 i have not had issues hitting pre-planned vehicles. i just ensure i am zoomed in all the way on f10 map and that i have the marker centered on the coordinates. but yes, multiples would most likely ensure the kill. too bad the Harrier did not carry the larger GPS guided bombs, they would be useful when our group's F/A-18 pilots wiff on bunkers. :D
Beirut Posted May 5, 2020 Author Posted May 5, 2020 Yeah, some MK83s with some social guidance would be fun. Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
