After 1 hour in multiplayer, DCS gets really slow and stutters. The task manager shows DCS writing like crazy on my second slow physical drive D: instead of writing on the SSD as drive C: where I installed DCS on. I have that pyhsical drive D: only for storage. I am not really sure if I might have once directed the downloads for DCS on that drive because the SSD was full. Does someone know how to get DCS to write the temporary files or whatever it is writing on D: back to write it on the fast SSD as C: drive?

Two thoughts.

1/ where is your saved games folder located?

2/ windows may have a paging file on D:

AMD 5800X3D · MSI 4080 · Asus ROG Strix B550 Gaming  · HP Reverb Pro · 1Tb M.2 NVMe, 32Gb Corsair Vengence 3600MHz DDR4 · Windows 11 · Thrustmaster TPR Pedals · VIRPIL T-50CM3 Base, Alpha Prime R. VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Base. JetSeat

1. on C:

2. You might be pretty right with that. I was sure I had moved the pagefile from D to C. But stupid Windows, you have to click "set" before you click "apply" otherwise you reboot, and it stays on D. Thanks for the quick help, fingers crossed that it works from now on.
