Hoirtel Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 I was doing some PC testing over the weekend and I noticed that my CPU with hyperthreading on was running one "proper" core at around 60-70% and another, physically separate, virtual core at a similar level. Most other core use was very low as I try to keep everything else to a minimum, but all cores showed some use. Once I disabled hyper threading I noticed I was now getting just one core running at very high use and I seem to be getting my top framerates much more of the time. I knew DCS mainly uses a single core, so I was surprised to see this use being effectively duplicated on another virtual core with HT switched on. Anyone else seen similar things?
Rudel_chw Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Anyone else seen similar things? I didn't bother with checking individual cores, but I once did the test of running DCS with HT off and my fps were (on average) about 5% higher ... so, I leaved the HT disabled on the Bios of my PC (on AMD it is called Simultaneous Multi-Threading, or SMT for short) and have run it that way ever since. Edit: Actually it was 4% .. here found my report back then: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3962733&postcount=8 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
