Hi all.

I'm enjoying LOMAC more and more, and now there's about 10 of us who regularly play online. We're already making custom missions, and having a great time.

Currently, one of us will host the mission and the others will connect to that through Hyperlobby. Obviously, that's not an idea solution:

Question #1 - is there a dedicated server utility for LOMAC? I've seen mention of something called 'dedmac' but the page it referred to is unavailable.

Question #2 - some of my friends have created skins, or have downloaded addons. Is there any way that these can be seen by other players in networked games? For example, I've installed the flashing nav lights addon, but nobody can see them!

Thanks very much for any advice you can provide.

Regards

Hello Epoch,

unfortunately there is no dedicated server for Lockon. Dedmac helps you with automatic change of missions after a time which you can set in the config.

Regarding skins i think you need to have them on your PC too to see them.

New Skins and so-called Mods are not transmitted via online gaming. If your friends are to see those flashing nav lights, each of them has to install this Mod on his own computer.

About the skins: The information, which skin a player has selected, is transmitted (name of the skin) between players, however if this skin was replaced by a modified or new one (still using the same name), it only will show up correctly on a computer, where this specific skin was installed before. Otherwise one will see the standard Lock-On skin that comes with the game.

kind regards,

Raven....

You don´t need Hyperlobby to connect to the host. The host has the port open and the ip. The others just type the ip of the host and connect. To have lagfree play, the one hosting needs high bandwith up and down. I have 10 MBIT down, and 2.5 MBIT up but we are only 4. I also set the server as spec (closing the screen on the laptop when game starts so I don´t peak!) and I use 640X480 resolution and 16 bit colors. Everything on low settings expect scenery which is high. If you set scenery on low every one else will be forced to use low. Dunno why. This makes the game smooth.

Already answered for the dedicated server. But you can still save a step in your procedure above, this way :

"One of us will host the mission and the others will connect to that through direct IP connexion"

Regarding Dedmac - I've PM'd Coldcrew and emailed patriotsuck and had no response from either.

I'll try saltynuts at simhq - but if anyone else can assist, then I'd be grateful.

Thanks !

Update: Sorted.

Someone at simhq gave me the link to the web archive (the same one goldsierra2 posted above). The other guy said it worked.

I tried unzipping it again - this time using XP Compressed Folders extractor instead of WinRAR - and it worked!

Looks like WinRAR doesn't like this .zip archive. Golfsierra2 - were you using WinRAR ?

Anyway - sorted. Server up on HL soon hopefully, assuming the server spec is up to scratch.

Cheers!

I've PM'd you a link. :)

@Epoch,

congrats, I never managed to unzip that file using both WinZip and WinRar. Would you mind to sent me a copy of the extracted files ?

Can someone kindly tell me exactly (all steps please) how to set up a game between two (or more) computers in the same house network? I have a wireless router that gives gererally 54Mbits.

thanks in advance
