Do anybody know of a mod to get NVG to viggen?

Or maybe know how to get the regular NVG to work somhow in the Viggen?

Or maybe HB can consider of making some kind of bad NVG that was used in testing in real life? I know it should be realistic and all. But for me this is a game and I just think it would be more fun also to be able to use NVG. And it would also make the viggen a little more useful at night in this game DCS enviroment..

The lighting in the cockpit would have to be adapted for nvg use as well, probably not the easiest task for a mod and not something I want from HB if it’s not realistic. The alternative is to take lysbombs.

Yeah probably not realistic for that era of viggen. Even in the 90's many US aircraft didn't have NVG capability.

Not to mention that the DCS NVG modeling is more or less terrible, especially in VR.

Just tried it... works... button bindings may need some work but the keyboard bindings work fine. It's a program MOD not a saved game one.. use OvGME or similar..

As for realism, do not get caught up with hype... unless you you are flying with the same era aircraft and want a level flying field...

Use the round ones and think look under the binos for the instruments just like they still do with some A/C. I know in the Falklands war we scrounged then 'new' NVGs from the US. Likewise I've used huge non standard contraptions fitted to weaponry to accommodate starlight scopes when they first came out.... when people want the best kit to deal with adversary they will come up with something to make it work....

Hope this helps some...

The Harrier guys scrounged some NVG's that were on test with the RAE or something similar. But they didn't really get along with them, so they passed them on to the naval helo pilots who found them to be a lot more useful.

What they might have done to your neck in the event of an ejection doesn't bear thinking about - you couldn't demount them in a hurry and even the most Gucci kit back in the 80's was bulky and heavy, just not as bulky and heavy as an IWS ;)

I heard that the Swedish air force trialled NVG's for Viggen pilots, but decided that flying tactically at night was dangerous enough, without having your peripheral vision and depth perception messed up by what was available at the time.
