Whiskeybravo Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 I was watching Wags' video tutorial about creating missions with the SuperCarrier and noticed he used a SAM site template. I don't use the ME very much but dabble occasionally to set up very simple scenarios for myself. It would be great to have some templates for things like SAM sites and other targets etc. Am I missing them somewhere in the ME or do we have to create them oursleves? I've searched the download files on the DCS site but couldn't find anything using the keyword 'template'. Cheers, WB.

These are actually called "Group Templates", and there are some provided with the Sim, filtered by country. You use them through "Edit -> Add Template" The top half is for applying existing templates, the lower half is for saving an existing Group (select it before calling up the template window) as a user Group Template. I've searched the download files on the DCS site but couldn't find anything using the keyword 'template'. At least for me, one gripe about the Group Templates is that they are not stored as separate files, one for each Group Template. Instead they are all lumped together on the Templates.lua file stored at \Saved Games\DCS.OpenBeta\MissionEditor. This makes them hard to share, that's why probably there are not many at User Files (plus they don't even have a type=template to make them easier to locate). Keep in mind that only a single Group of units can be part of a Template. Under the USA there are no templates listed unlike the ones shown in your screenshot. Under the Russia option only the SA10 appears and for the majority of countries there is nothing in the drop down list under the respective country? WB.
