Hey!

Someone should make a Spitfire model and replace the Hog with it. It would be inaccurate as all heck but imagine the movie-making opportunity!

I really suppose you could use any WWII fighter. If someone's hesitant about a spit, go ahead and make an Mustang or Lightning or Me-109 or really anything you want. I just want to see someone (cough, Glowing_Amraam, cough) make a movie with a WWII plane getting the jump on and engaging in an extended dogfight with a pair of modern jet fighters. That would be realy awesome (although the poll seems to show that I'm retarded :D)

Movie magic my friend. The prop-plane would use superior turnrate to out-turn the jets, but the jets could simply disengage or go vertial. You could definately generate a lot of film with such a concept, it would be like an A-10 dogfighting an F-15. Sure it would be over instantly BVR, but WVR things change ;-)

:D Yeah, WVR the F-15 brakes in half right after first turn

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

I don't care about realism here. This is not a serious attempt to add a flyable or anything, it would be a fun project to replace the A-10 with a WWII plane and make a movie out of it. I don't care what you try to tell me, the A-10 can do damn well against an F-15 or any other fighter for that matter. I've seen HUD footage of an Eagle's wings lined up nice and pretty in the Hog's funnel. Therefore, our "pretend Spitfire" would not be at such a disadvantage and could put on a really nice show for the video. If you think about it, an A-10 is not all that different from a WWII plane if we just look at the bare basics. It's slow, it's low on roll-rate (compared to an Eagle, it's got big straight wings, bad climber, no radar, etc.
