  1. Like many others, I too stay far away from any game that uses Steam. I don't like it and don't care for it... so I don't support it. The current English download version is pain free and perfect. Just get it.
  2. Translation for Pegaso69: I state that I use Falcon 4.0 from time when home Microprose immise Falcone in the market ... thus far 10 years! and still fly with the Falcon patched OpenFalcon. With this preamble I just wanted to reassure you that no one around sprovveduto systems aboard military aircraft ... that even if the East or the West if it is not soup and pan wet. So the moral of the story: I translated for you in Italian language the long list of commands real BlackShark. The file is a pdf and for the moment I upload on rapidshare and megaupload (I do not have a dedicated server, unfortunately). I tried to do my best, I have not translated sentence by sentence, but every time I do not understand the meaning, launched BS and tried the command and ricontravo the result with the English version. Early in pdf there is a small legend that will surely return useful follow ... Furthermore, the translation was not based on the simulator in Russian .... I based simulator in English ... then the various classifications (written in red listed in the second column) you can find ttranquillamente next to the buttons, switches or knobs various himself inside the cockpit. If discover errors or inconsistencies, please contact the email that you will find all'intenro PDF. Thank you for your kind attention and all good divertiemnto these are the links for download:
  3. Excellent wallpaper Shrubbo! Thanks for sharing it. Hope you don't mind if I use it as a sig also!
  4. For what it is worth, for Blackshark, you should be using Vista ( 32 or 64 doesn't matter) since you get better fps on Vista over XP with Blackshark and mutliple cores. I have tested BS on a dual core and a quad core on both Vista and XP. On XP, it runs well, nice and smooth, but no improvement over the fps with affinity to all cores, with Vista I get a huge improvement over XP with the affinity set to all cores. I know it has been said that DSC Blackshark does not use quad cores, but I get between 5 to 7 fps more from my quad core system than my dual core system. So for me, it seems better to use a quad core and Vista since first you get 10 to 20 fps more using Vista with the affinity tweak and then the quad core gives you another 5 to 7 more than my dual core and this is both with high graphics. Not sure why, because even though I have played most all of my sims on the dual core, my DCS BS shows best results on my quad-core system over my dual core system. Both systems are quite different, one being Nvidia based with the Nforce chipset, video, etc... the other is an ATI strong system with an AMD ATI reference board ( doesn't do nvidia sli for example) ATI Radeon video card, etc... both system with at least 4GB of ram, both running dual boot of XP and Vista.
  5. Icarus2, make sure you are using Vista and also if you continue to have problems with Wombats script, try disabling User Account Control, reboot, then try the script shortcut again, when in a mission (alt-tab and check cores).
  6. I am still trying to complete this mission, it is extremely difficult for me so far. Last try, I made it over the top neutralizing the Early Warning Units, then made it to Farp Torba, where I refueled/rearmed and got what I thought were all the targets but missed one deadly one, getting too close before noticing it and bam, I was flames. That's as far as I have gotten so far. A fantasticly difficult mission! Keep them coming!
  7. Dual boot, on two different systems, and a big YES on both systems. Vista with the affinity tweak gets between 10 to 20 fps more over the same exact system running XP.
  8. The multi-core fps improvement only works in Vista. You have to assign the "DCS.exe" to more than one core affinity, not the launcher.exe (that starts the GUI only). The DCS.exe has been programmed to run onder one core, so even if you "think" you see it automatically assigned to more than one not using the affinity tweak, then take a look at the DCS.exe once again, when you are in a mission (hit pause/break then alt-tab out and check), you will find without the affinity tweak that like everyone else, by default the DCS.exe runs on one core. If you are having problems setting your DCS.exe to more than one core using either Wombats scripts or THG, then try disabling the User Account Control in Vista (UAC). Reboot then try again, it may work as UAC seems to block the process.exe on some systems running Vista. Again, for you XP users (32 or 64 bit) , setting the affinity to more than one core will not provide any more gain since this has been tested multiple times already, the big improvement over XP is seen with multicore cpus and Vista (either 32 bit or 64 bit, doesn't matter). Blackshark gets more frames per second on most all computers running Vista than it does running XP, when you set the affinity correctly. Hope this clarifies things as we still see people not reading entire threads on this and still trying it out on XP.
  9. This is one tough mission! Alright successfully took out the Early Warning Radar area with no damage, that was tough. Moving on to the next area now.
  10. theox, Unfortunately you don't get any fps improvement in XP doing the multi-core affinity trick... if you get 32 fps in XP then on the same machine with the affinity trick you'll get 32, BUT if you install Vista on that same system (dualboot for BS) then you stand to get approx. anywhere from 10 to 20 fps more than you have with XP by using the affinity trick for a multi-core system.

Nice, looking forward to it Yeniceri. Love the Turkish theme too, I used to live in Karamursel, Turkey for 4 years.
  12. Wow Yeniceri, that last skin looks amazing! Looking forward to this one as well.

Excellent question there BrumTX, to use all of the fantasy jets in a 'futuristic' style mission file or small series of campaign missions. Can someone get this worked out for the community?

Awesome creativity there Yeniceri! I just love your model and renders. Looks amazing! Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.
  18. Very low on Ram for LockON. It is more than "just load times" when it comes to LockOn. 2Gb really does help to run it amazingly. Your cpu might also be considered borderline for lockon (as a non-dual core example- my laptop has an Intel 3.4Ghz full desktop cpu in it, 2Gb of Ram and an ATI9700 Pro with 256Mb of ram and still struggles with it when trying to use highest graphics settings in LockOn), if possible try and get an Intel Core2Duo since lockon is both CPU and Video intensive. You won't regret it. Most everyone can run IL2 1946 on most machines, but compared to LockON, it is quite different in the system you need. (Ex. I can run IL2 1946 on that same laptop on highest settings smoothly). Hope this helps. My best LockOn system is an Intel Core2Duo running at 3.75Ghz with 3Gb of ram and dual Nvidia 7950 each with 512mb of ram on it (1024 video ram total) in SLI.
  19. Maybe just import a spitfire model from another sim.
  20. I too have LockOn Gold, and the second disc ( the one you have to put in once every 7 days) is cracked... luckily it has been working for sometime like this, but eventually I hope to get the people that distributed the Gold version to send me another. You can't copy the disc and get it to work successfully. LockOn Golds second disc is protected with Starforce. Copies for backup don't seem to work.

    FSX F-18

Thank-you, but does anyone know if the Blue Angel Pack by AerialFoundry works with FSX?

    FSX F-18

I got it installed on WinXP Pro with no issues. In this order. FSX 1st SP Acceleration Acceleration installed without a problem on DX9 and looks great, no need to have DX10 to install the Acceleration Pack. I got another question though: I was thinking of buying that AerialFoundry F/A-18 Blue Angels pack, but it says it is for FS2002 and FS2004. I wanted to know if anyone has it and has tried it on FSX. Any issues or problems? I just wanted to know if it works, and/or if there is a patch or fix, because I really wanted to have the Blue Angel version in FSX if possible. I guess I could always go back to FS2004, but it would be nice to know if it works on FSX.
  23. My best friend has bootcamp (multi-boot utility) loaded on his MacBook Pro (17" laptop) with WindowsXP Pro, and when he boots into XP he has all of his windows games loaded (GTR2, GRAW2, Crysis, COD4, LockON:FC, Falcon4 Allied Force) and they all run flawlessly and they run very well and fast! I am amazed at how fast and efficient his MacBookPro is running games on it, which is the only reason he has a WinXP Pro partition on it...for the games only. The rest of the time when he isn't playing games he is in OSX (soon to be Leapord as he just bought it). So YES, LockON:FC plays extremely well on a MacBook Pro. For reference: his laptop has 2Gb of ram in it, the 2.60 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo cpu in it with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card with 256MB SDRAM on it.
