jeffham222 Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 When flying with a Lightening TGP on Station 4, I notice a significant roll to the left when flying. This is not accurate based on conversations with a Hornet pilot. Also, on take off roll almost as soon as airspeed comes alive in Nellis, jet goes left. This also should not happen. The drag model math for this is off big time. Please fix. Tholozor Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 Aside from simply saying "a pilot told me so," what sources do you have for the weight and drag calculations? Did the pilot you spoke to fly with the LITENING on Station 4, ATFLIR, or NITE Hawk? There are major differences in drag and weight between the pods plus their adapters (ATFLIR and NITE Hawk are very similar to each other in terms of weight and dimensions). jeffham222 Posted June 3, 2020 Author Posted June 3, 2020 Yeah dude, without getting into "what I do", it was legit and Lightening was mentioned specifically. Also looked in NFM. I believe the term is "moment arm" or something of weight from the centerline... It shouldn't cause that much roll or yaw on takeoff.
