  1. ALE-39 has half the buckets that the 47 does and it is analog, not digital--so less value. Also, the lot 20 modeled here came with SMUG (SMS upgrade), RUG (RADAR upgrade to APG-73 from APG-65) and ALE-47 IRL. So it wouldn't make sense to make it an earlier lot jet. And jamming I think would be cool, but also hard to model given all the dynamics of it. I would think it would have to jam all enemy RADARs to be useful. What would be cool is having EA-6Bs or EA-18Gs to jam for a strike package, but they have enough on their hands and doubt we'll see that stuff for a long time as it is still pretty classified. Pretty much everything they model here is tactically, real-world obsolete in the sense it is not, nor never will be the "new thing"/cutting edge stuff. Not that most DCS'ers would care, or should as those things are a matter of national security. There's enough here and coming to make it real world enough. Want it more real world? Join the military and actually fly the things!!! Lol... Cheers, folks!
  2. Why would you go to In Flight Align? I always go to NAV when I get a good alignment and stuff seems to have worked fine. TBH, I haven't flown in a good bit of time, but IFA is not the position you want the switch in.
  3. Yeah, it's an NVME m.2 thingy... lol... I shall try changing it to E: drive on the updater. That worked (changed both from C : drive to E: drive--where the game is installed)--and only a ~1GB (I think) update! Thanks, Silverdevil!
  4. Here's a shot of my shortcut to open the sim--which works flawlessly. Should the the "Target" and "Start In" be the same in the "Update DCS World OpenBeta Properties"? It seems it should be, but not 100% sure.
  5. Should I change the "Target" in here to update E: drive or the "Start In" option?
  6. Is the new update 105GB? It may be going to my C : drive but I have the game installed on my E: drive. What's goin' on here? EDIT--This is for the OpenBeta--which I guess is obvious from my two responses...
  7. Yeah I think I have to copy the old "Saved Games/DCS..." folder from old C drive to new. How can I do that while still using the old computer? A thumb drive or something?
  8. Built a new computer, I copied my old SSD to my new NVME drive. Wondering how to make this work.
  9. In my experience, when you are turning final, you will be wiggling both throttles and stick to keep it where you want it. But don't expect perfection out of yourself, just fly and get 'er down in one piece. Keep flying the pattern and you'll get better and more confident. I don't mean to come across like I am talking down (because I am not, nor am I pro at this), but anytime you roll more level, your lift will increase, which means you will have to pull back the throttles. Anytime you increase bank angle, lift will decrease so you will have to add some power. Combine with potential winds or asymmetrical loadouts it gets more fun.
  10. I don't know how this was meant for, but I didn't disable Defender... Everything runs fine now!
  11. Adding the DCS folders (all) to exceptions in Avast and Malwarebytes did the trick! No stuttering in SP or MP. Man, it's good to have a smooth-running sim back!
  12. Dang... here I thought we had the SLAM-ER already...
  13. Got the same thing... I guess I'll wait until it is resolved to update.
  14. Dude, calm down. I was flippin' you crap based on your response on my other gripe about the Lightening pod on station 4... All good here, bruh.
  15. Thanks. I guess we'll use button #6 on the DDI, then. Wait, how do YOU know this? Are you just going on hearsay? Lol...
  16. Yeah dude, without getting into "what I do", it was legit and Lightening was mentioned specifically. Also looked in NFM. I believe the term is "moment arm" or something of weight from the centerline... It shouldn't cause that much roll or yaw on takeoff.
  17. When flying with a Lightening TGP on Station 4, I notice a significant roll to the left when flying. This is not accurate based on conversations with a Hornet pilot. Also, on take off roll almost as soon as airspeed comes alive in Nellis, jet goes left. This also should not happen. The drag model math for this is off big time. Please fix.
  18. Same sort of issue yesterday. Came back today and it was on like Donkey Kong. All updates were current both times.
  19. I was on a mission I made, on the Nevada map as well.
  20. When trying to go from wide to narrow views and carrying 65Es, the raid/FLIR switch does not respond. Tried switching TGP to other DDI, nothing. I had to shut down and restart the TGP for it to work properly. Also, I was designating TOO targets for JDAMs yesterday, and it wasn't working for anything. Came back today and it was working fine. Probably my screw up, just wondering if anyone else had this issue.
  21. Noticed today on multiplayer that the flight deck crew were standing behind wrong foul/shot line on cats 1 and 2 on the Lincoln. Only complaint. Beautiful module. Thanks!
  22. True. And thank you. Wrong technique in maybe not using speed brakes, but as far as when I drop flaps and gear... I go by what I've seen in RL working around them. Call it a, "work around based on real world observations"... Lol...
  23. This is key!!! But make sure you are practicing at a lower altitude than cruise---say 1500-2500' AGL--and at about the weight you will trap--2k-5k of fuel--and on AOA. All this plays a factor. Here's how I do it--and I am sure I'll catch some crap for it not being "correct", but it works for me--I do FCLPs. Load up at Nellis (or any airfield) with about 6k of fuel, with all pylons and centerline drop tank. This configuration is a good one as it represents a "normal" load out after a mission and you'll get the drag factor as well. Obviously be aware of runway headings... Normal take off, turn and fly down wind about 5 mi past the runway, turn to final and descend to ~800'AGL at 350kts. Break no sooner than midpoint of airfield (I prefer opposite end of runway that I will be landing on). How do I break? Surely not the "correct' way... Roll left hard, pull back throttles, and attempt to maintain Gs that equal 1% of airspeed (you know, 350kts=3.5Gs, 300kts=3Gs, 250kts=2.5 Gs and so forth) and in level flight. I don't pop the boards. I don't lower gear or drop any flaps until I'm around 200-220kts--I find this helps with porpoising or ballooning. When I am around 200-220kts, I drop gear and flaps. Usually by this time I am naturally descending as well and dropping flaps then helps to arrest the descent. Again, I find if I do this sooner, I climb like a rocket. Trim to AOA (should be doing this a bit before as well), fly downwind managing throttles/climb descent, and make final turn to runway heading around when the left wingtip launcher hits the approach-end of the runway. Try to find a spot on the runway to put your velocity vector--hashmarks, a certain centerline line, whatever. Practice this and you'll nail it. You'll find that a lighter aircraft always is more sensitive/prone to climb/descend than an aircraft that is heavier--basic physics, right? That is why I like starting out with about 6k of fuel and landing with around 2000-2500lbs left. Remember, you don't touch your stick unless it is for roll, use the throttle to control climb/descent. Find what works for you. But always land with full flaps--half flaps IS easier, but you'll develop bad habits and still have to learn full flaps--why learn stuff twice? Do it once. Maybe the same could be told to me NOT using the speedbrake but that is another thing to manage which I do not believe is necessary. Am I wrong? Maybe. But it works for me. I work in this "field" and honestly, on a land base, I see pilots dropping gear in downwind... so, I dunno. Just keep doing it. You seem to have it sorted--work the break, then fly AOA, now put it all together! It'll come and you'll have a real sense of accomplishment when you nail that first successful trap on the boat on the first attempt!
