amalahama Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Dear ED: Is it possible to control an in-range SLAM launched from another human player or even an AI entity? As I suppose the anwer is No, is there any plan to add this feature in the near future? Thanks
Swift. Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 +1 Would be a nice feature to have. I can't find any actual documents saying its possible other that a passage from a book by Kevin Miller (ex hornet pilot) where he describes the flight leads guiding the missiles launched from their wingmen. I suspect its something to do with the ability to enter 3 digits in the UFC option from the dl13 page. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
toilet2000 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 It was definitely possible, as it uses the same DL as the Walleyes II, which are known to be used with a pair of aircraft, one dropping and one guiding. On top of that, I had a discussion with BN or 9L (can't remember who right now) that confirmed it was possible for the Walleyes, just not implemented yet.
amalahama Posted June 5, 2020 Author Posted June 5, 2020 Walleyes however should have a more reduced DL range that would render it less useful, but still possible, yes. I read somewhere that it during ODS it was common to use Intruders as SLAM carriers and hornets equipped with the Datalink closer to the target for the terminal phase

SLAM was cobbled together using the DL taken directly from a walleye. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
