Bucic Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 BTW, did you know that you can add a lot to any VoIP application by setting "What U hear" as its audio source? This way when your buddy transmits (talks) you can also hear his engines (and everything else he hears obviously), even though he's using headphones. This way when your buddy transmits (talks) you can also hear his engines (and everything else he hears obviously), even though he's using headphones. Please elaborate. If I set the recording source on TS3 as "What U hear", then my mic sound will feedback into the transmission producing a ringing sound, since I have to enable to hear my own mic to others be able to hear it on this mode. How do I do that without the feedback?
Lava Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Jack, I think it can only be done with headphones, which isolates the sound from the mic. (edit) Also, it'll broadcast any music you're listening to... guaranteed to annoy someone if you don't remember to turn off Winamp :)

How do I do that without the feedback? I tossed it in hoping it's clear enough to keep it short. I don't want to continue this here as it's rather OT. PM me or point me to appropriate topic, if you want. SFJackBauer Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Jack, I think it can only be done with headphones, which isolates the sound from the mic. Ah of course. But sometimes wearing headphones is tiring. Thought that Bucic hinted at some kind of workaround to record more than one source at time in Windows with ordinary sound cards in real-time, but now I understood he didn't. /offtopic
Frederf Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Yeah, Windows (XP, it's gone in 7) can use a mixed input source as a recording source. That would mean Mic+Speaker+Etc in whatever proportion you want. You would hardly want to have 100% of your output be mixed in with your microphone at 1:1 unless you really wanted to be unintelligible. There has to be an input mixing piece of software out there for Win 7. I'll see if I can find it. Besides, if the Ka-50's standard aviation headset is anything like my David Clark 13.4s, you really don't hear the environment (engines, etc) nearly at all through the microphone along with speech likely do to its noise canceling nature, proximity effect, band pass filters, etc. One thing that's funny is that you can hear the strobe lights over the radio when someone's transmitting a lot of times, very loud in fact from certain aircraft manufacturers. I can't find anything via Google about the effect so I don't know if its intentional or just a byproduct of the combined electrical circuits. 1
Murdoc Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 TARS Look at this then: http://www.excessiveheadspace.com/tars/ This comes the closest to what you guys want. :) About TARS TARS stands for Tactical Aviation Radio System and is a combination plugin for Teamspeak 3 and mod for DCS: A-10C and DCS:Black Shark. Its purpose is to allow players to use the in-game radios to communicate with fellow players in the multiplayer environment. By removing the need for channel switching and channel management policies, you can spend more time concentrating on your gaming and less time worrying about the configuration of your Teamspeak channels. TARS also allows other users to “spectate” the game from the same channel as players, without interfering with play. In addition to integrating Teamspeak 3 with the radio control panels in DCS, TARS also simulates radio signal quality, radio horizon based on altitude, and other radio effects.
