Has anyone got successful buddy lasing? Me and friends tried yesterday with no joy. Tried with GBU-12 and AGM 65E, although we can lock the target, the bomb always miss it.

Did it a couple of times over the past 2 years and it always worked flawless. It helps to fire the laser only after the bomb has been released.

Maybe that’s because now need to hold the trigger to manually illuminate the target ?

I tried:

- LTD/R on On position (L ARM appears on FLIR as usual)

- Select TRIG option on FLIR

- Buddy search for laser and find it

- Buddy launch GBU

- 10-15 seconds before impact i start lasing (LTD/R on FLIR) holding the trigger

- Bomb fails

to be clear what we did:

- Who is lasing is the one which ltd/r is on, trigger boxed and holding trigger over target.

- Who is searching the laser is the one which, LST is on, LTDR off, LST boxed and looking for the laser, once locked, launch the weapon.

everyone with the same laser code.

Alright several issues here (there seems to be some misconception about how buddy lasing works in general):

- Who is lasing is the one which ltd/r is on, trigger boxed and holding trigger over target.

When you hold the trigger over target, does it actually say "LTD/R" in top center of the FLIR screen? Because if it doesn't say so, you're not actually lasing.

- Who is searching the laser is the one which, LST is on, LTDR off, LST boxed and looking for the laser, once locked, launch the weapon.

There is absolutly no need for LST for buddy lasing. That's a missconception many have when it comes to buddy lasing. Many people think you need LST to do that, but that's not the case.

Have you just tried to drop the bomb on the target without LST?

everyone with the same laser code.

The lasing guy needs to have his LTD/R code on the FLIR set to the correct number, while the bomb throwing guy needs to have his bomb code on the STORES page set to the correct number.

Yes it shows LTD/R

what I mean is the LST in DDI, it is boxed or "uncaged"

Yes it does

Yes it does

As I said: LST is not needed to employ laser guided bombs with buddy lasing. Just try dropping the bombs without LST. If that still doesn't work, you should upload a track file so we can take a look at what you guys are doing wrong.

May have a look at this video from Grim Reapers, they shoot Mavs with Buddy lasing. This will hopefully answers your questions:
