P47 and Channel quick take and message to ED

1- I got the P47 and the Channel map.. I really do like the P47 .. but here my take on this.. P47 controls need a force control as almost all DCS modules.. Luckily for us the real P47 is a bit more stable as a weapons platform and less wobbly.. props effect need TLC and sound .. the sound need a makeover so bad..!!! must must.. First flight I really love the plane. very fun to ride.. will be better hopefully soon with fixes update.

 

( A P47 is like an Orca in the Ocean.. BiG baby heavy beast .. sluggish at slow speed but magnificent grace at his flight envelop.. and yeas... stable..) In RL for now in the DCS we have a Cessna wanting to be a P47..

 

2-Channel map.. Beautiful gorgeous map!!!!!.. flat ofcourse but lots of details which is perfect for a Tank battle and maybe we will fly on it with a decent FPS.. next year with new GPU? because ofcourse everyone will have the top of the line 3080 or 3090's GPU's for us VR users..

 

3- Well ED. need to seriously consider revamp it's engine .. adding details and details and mode details with a very bad graphics engine.. trees design distance? will bug your computer so down it's horrible we need support for (multi GPU's) and Multi CPU's <--------- this is getting seriously out of hands.!!!!!.

 

When designing developers should look of the future and adapt their Simulation with it's time.. but make it run smooth for "mid" range hardware thaaaaaaaan after run "smooth" greatly good with higher end.. Since day one of Lockon days.. run like shit ever since.. what to do .. what to do..

 

Ho and yes VR is the future so better get the engine run smooth .. like well .. hummm IL2. yes

 

 

Well on a positive note.. I can now relive our cherished "Lockon" Days.. almost two decade ago .. same feeling..

^ Yes. In designing the empennage of the airplane (and testing it in flight later) for static longitudinal stability, one investigates how fast the plane will stop oscillating in pitch and return to level fligth after introducing initial disturbance:

a) with stick "fixed" - returned to neutral and held there firmly by the pilot (so that stabilizer and elevator create bigger surface to help in restoring level flight);

b) with stick "free" - released by the pilot (only stabilizer surface helps in restoring level fight, while elevator flaps around freely);

TBH I did in time but I'm a bit tired of the continuous bashing of the platform because of stupid things and now completely exhausted of the endless discussion, so I don't discuss anything any more with stupid people. It's not like there's no problems of course, but so many of the "insurmountable problems" people can't live with are just tiny stupid things, which needs to be fixed of course but not like I can't live because of those. What a spoiled childhood you all apparently had with everything you ever wanted in your hands :doh: . So lets take a look at your OP,

Hmmmm, yeah, I guess you say that in you wide P-47 piloting experience. Sluggish P-47? I always remember a story of a pilot on how he used to hunt Bf109s with a slip manoeuvre because any 109 pilot could think a P-47 could slip like that resulting in an apparent tighter turn. Interesting for a sluggish whale, right? So assuming your statement is 100% true and should be taken by ED just because you say so is a bit… I don't know, you name it :thumbup: .

 

With regards to the sound, despite the lacking inertia wheel sound at start, the P-47 sounds gorgeous. You all saying it's bad better turn up your volume and/or go to a doctor to check your deafness because it's worrying.

Yeah, well. Funnily enough DCS works quite well on low end machines, even though you use the lower graphics settings so couldn't enjoy the gorgeous graphics, obviously. Or is it? People apparently want those gorgeous graphics in 10 years old machines, or what? Well, in truth my PC is 7 years old with only a recent graphics card change while enjoying almost maxed out graphics, but you know perhaps it's me being crazy and delusional.

 

 

All the new maps started with performance problems and now they perform beautifully except Channel map, which is usable anyway. I don't know, the early access perhaps has something to do with that.

I guess you're kidding here, of course. Consider a revamp of their engine? You mean like the 1.2 enhance, or maybe the 1.5 introducing EDGE, or maybe the 2.0 when all the new maps came in, or even the recent 2.5.6 revamp even though a new engine using Vulkan API is on it's way. You're kidding, I'm sure you're either kidding or you've been living in an isolated hole until last week :doh:.

Forces on rudders pedals or stick.. Have you ever experience pushing pulling on a stick ? the Sim is difficult to really adjust due to the forces.. we can apply a slight force on a rudder here on your desktop ( over controlled ) while in real life you need lot more pressure. The curvature of in sim is made for this but it's not really enough. make the whole difference... Re read carefully .. My P47 ? funny..

Also by tweaking the visibility range file I made my DCS run much smoother for my VR experience but impossible to enter on Servers.

Imo ED do not see far in sight.. as many discussions about 6dof, aircraft, engine, CPU, SLI's and Now VR and damage models and Track IR and VR axis limitations (I know that so well from my past mods ) .. Of course they know but it seems that they need a serious fade up from the community to accept to change something or they wont .. only jet sim around for now no competition.

 

LOL yeas I stopped DCS 4 years ago.. and restarted because of VR but I will admit I go much more in IL2.. for a good reason.

while flying IL2 I still hear all the talk I had with Jason fom IL2 and others about head positions box limits damages etc ( long ago ) He did listen! , the team listen to advice and now Il2 is quite "superb", while in a dogfight with out my head going through the cockpit help a lot in immersion.. unlike DCS ..DCS been said the same thing for a decade now .. same and same ..

So yes having a sentiment of ED not caring much about things that could make the immersion so much better at it's base. It take them a very longtime to see the benefit of this good things. If we did not really work them to have TR IR and 6DOF you would be flying 3D mix with 2D model right now..

 

I love DCS there is no doubt.. but it can be much better with not much ..

I am far not an expert on weapons or all electronic onboard .. never was .. I am looking first to see how this aircraft make me feel as immersion.. if the button have a bug to me it's secondary many other much more qualify can report and talk about this.. but sounds , head pilots, flight feeling etc.. I do care a lot because I Experience this in RL.. I personally love all aircraft non fly by wire all the rest is an area were I lack expertise. I rather fly a MiG15 or MiG 19 / 21 than an F14 F16 etc.. but this is only my taste.

 

I do understand your frustration and it's valid as well as we were.
