ramtsi Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Yesterday I logged into a training server for the first time and I really didn't know what to do other than take off, fly for a bit and land. A few questions I have regarding the multiplayer in dcs: 1. I fly the l39 and it's radio frequencies are pre programmed. If in the server briefing I have a bunch of frequencies for comms, how do I program those into my radio channels? 2. On single player I have no issues with lags and stutters, but in the multiplayer server I was the game lagged like crazy and I had a ton of stuttering. Should I lower my settings before logging in a multiplayer server? 3. I had all the friendlies and enemies with labels I could see from miles away, is it possible to turn it off? Its also like this in the editor and this is not so immersive. cheers.
Kang Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 1. If I'm not mistaken the radio frequencies for the L-39 have to be set in the mission editor. Most multiplayer server admins set these presets up to correspond with the most useful frequencies on the first few channels. If the briefing doesn't mention any of that, you can always ask in game. 2. There are several variables at play here. One is the network lag that sometimes makes planes (or even vehicles) 'jump around'. This happens when a few packets in communication between you and the server are getting lost and then things get updated again. The other is that many multiplayer missions - having to cater to more than one player obviously - can contain a lot of units in a large variety. That puts a bit of a strain on your computer and can be alleviated a bit by 'lowering settings'. 3. You can turn off the labels in the options menu. Servers can 'force' a certain state for them, but if you turn them off on your end, they should be off either way.
Motomouse Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 2. a) Check server ping 2. b) Turn off shadows VIC-20@1.108 MHz, onboard GPU, 5KB RAM, μυωπία goggles, Competition Pro HOTAS
BM357_TinMan Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 MP performance decrease 2. On single player I have no issues with lags and stutters, but in the multiplayer server I was the game lagged like crazy and I had a ton of stuttering. Should I lower my settings before logging in a multiplayer server? 2. b) Turn off shadows I have this same issue. Nowhere near to the extent as described in this post but, stuttering is always more pronounced and frame rates are always a bit lower on MP servers for me. I'll try the shadow thing and see if it helps me. Thnx
