Can anyone help me with some custom ideas?

I live in Boston. As I said the moneys pretty flexible but I been out the loop awhile. Alienware has reallt affordable stuff but frankly I dont know their quality.

If there was a good enough deal i could.commit immediately- but id prefer to amass all the money i got cominf.

That said this is something ive thought long and hard on

I need a new.mic and im tired of.my.comp barely running dcs. I want to enjoy.mp.and dcs as it should - even if for real life reasons i may not be able.to game anymore in 6 mnths to a yr.

Thats irrelevant i want the pc though.

Can anyone help with advice pls?

I'd give you more detailed HW advice but I just don't have time currently dealing with other DCS things.

  • Don't get a GPU with 8GB or less VRAM.
  • Don't get less than 32GB RAM.
  • Don't bother with very high memory speeds (RAM) and XMP profiles, as it'll just be a pain in the butt configuring that right with the mobo to work stable, and it depends on CPU and Mobo's support, but even if support is there it's not perfect and their quality depends, with CPUs it's also a lottery how good of a CPU you get and if you have a "bad core" in there it could crap out if stressed out, so if you're not up to speed you should just avoid that.
  • If you're not in a hurry, you could wait for the new AMD Ryzen CPUs to arrive, I think there's going to be a reveal in September or something like that, but they may not come until fall.

Modules: A-10C I/II, F/A-18C, Mig-21Bis, M-2000C, AJS-37, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, P-47, FC3, SC, CA, WW2AP, CE2. Terrains: NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf, Syria

Guys, I've been trying to help him via PM.

I threw together a quick build (didn't check for compatibility yet i.e. dimensions, fit, etc) only to get a rough ballpark for him. I based it on an i5-9600K, 32 GB DDR4 3200, and an RTX 2080 Super. Put a Noctua cooler on it, an MSI Z390 Gaming Edge MoBo, and a 650W Gold Coolermaster PSU. Came out to ~$1680.

I don't know anything about Ryzen's lineup, but I know a lot of you do. I know there could be more savings there. Any chance you could throw a parts list together to hit ~$1500-1600 (leaving $400ish for VR)?

Also, a pre-built PC may be beneficial as well.

i5-9900K @ 5.0 GHz| Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master | 64 GB Trident G.Skill RAM @ 3200 MHz | Thermaltake Floe Riing 360 AIO | Samsung EVO 860 500 GB SSD | Crucial MX500 500 GB M.2 | SanDisk 1TB SSD | RTX 3090 | EVGA G3 850W Gold PSU | Thermaltake View 71 TG Snow Edition | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFC Crosswind pedals | Oculus Rift-S
