How do you do it?

Go to the control bindings and locate "Throttle (Left) - OFF/IDLE" and "Throttle (Right) - OFF/IDLE" bindings and set them to work with the Idle/Off detent on the Warthog for each respective engine.

Now if you air start in the jet all will be ok, just have your throttles between the idle and max area, but if you cold start what I do is have both throttles at the idle stop and once you spawn in to the jet just move both throttles back over the off detent and this will set the throttles to the cold jet. Then run through your start up sequence and when you're at the correct rpm just move each throttle forward to the idle position and it works as the real jet would.

This shouldn't be necessary. I can load a cold-start mission with both throttles in the off position. Startup and subsequent operation is absolutely fine.
