Chaff

I set in the CMS jester defensive fenced in chaff auto and flares manual but when I push the countermeasure button only flares come out. I verified by not only checkin external view but when I rearmed the number of chaff was the same as before I left. This is MP but I don’t think it should matter.

As I understand it, the pilot and RIO each control one set of CM, either chaff or flare, depending on the RIO selection.

 

 

Setting Jester to chaff means pilot controls flares, and vice versa. So, the behavior as you described appears correct to me.

Then jester should dispense chaff and I glared I would think but only my manual flares is being dispensed. I guess maybe I can set chaff to manual and do it that way maybe.

Was a tracking radar or fire control radar spiking you? Jester only drops chaff when you are being engaged by a radar threat.

Not quite. RIO controls both, chaff and flare at all times. Pilot can additionally drop flares or chaff, depending on switch setting in the backseat.

Does Jester ever dispense the CM that is under pilot control?

I was being launched at by a Phoenix. I’ll just try manual chaff. Maybe another issue with jester? I’ve had other missiles launched at me including SAMS.

Jester does dispense chaff by default.

I left with 120 chaff and used my countermeasures button throughout several instances and when I lamer my flare count was much lower but my chaff was still 120. Should I not choose the defensive fenced in auto chaff manual flares?

Not sure what you mean by fenced in auto chaff.

 

 

If I select pilot chaff in the Jester menu, then I control the chaff. I dont think Jester dispenses chaff in this case.

 

If I select pilot flare in the Jester menu, then I control the flares. Jester will automatically dispense chaff in response to a radar threat.

I set single chaff and it still dispenses flares. Set program too and got into a showdown with radar missiles and still nothing dispensed. It’s not like the 18 where I can choose between flares and chaff. It’s almost impossible without being to dispense chaff

No need to mess around with CM programs. RIO will take care of the CM's you don't have control over. I usually just let him handle the chaff, as we have much more of them anyways and so far, i've never ran out.
