How to set a liverie default ?

I downloaded liveries for the F-16 and when I entered an instant mission it showed me the default liveries.

hi. its probably not the best way to do it. but i will tell you what i do. i find the mission in "GAME_INSTALL_LOCATION\Mods\aircraft\F-16C\Missions\QuickStart", make a copy of it into your missions in saved games (%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\GAME_INSTALL_VERSION\Missions), open with mission editor and change the livery.

This is what I do:

 

I made a new folder called "F-16 default livery", and inside folders with the structure:

F-16C default livery\CoreMods\aircraft\F-16C\Liveries\F-16C_50\default\

 

Put your favourite livery files in there: description.lua and all the *.dds files, and zip that folder to "F-16C default livery.zip" (make sure it's *.zip and not any other format).

Now you can use a mod manager such as OvGME to replace the default files.

Optionally, you can then edit the description.lua file and change the line:

name = "77th Fighter Squadron 'Gamblers' " (in this particular example)

into

name = "default livery"

It's not needed for this to work, but if you don't do it you'll have "77th Fighter Squadron 'Gamblers' " (in this particular example) listed twice in the drop-down menu of selectable liveries.

 

You'll have to do this again after every new patch/hotfix, but it works well :)

Just to add a disclaimer: this will only work as long as every single DCS Falcon mission is set to use "default livery" as default. If/when that changes, we'll have to get creative again...
