I've been looking for the most efficient way to sink warships using the hornet, without the need for saturation attacks.

So far, GBU-31s have yielded the best results, since they don't get intercepted and cause considerable damage... but I'm having really annoying issues with the TPOD's coordinate accuracy (I think).

I've tried using area track, point track and regular designation, but I seem to get inaccurate coordinates most of the time.

How does one get accurate coordinates for a ship when using the TPOD?

Also, are there any specific considerations I should keep in mind when dropping JDAMs in manual release mode? For instance, are there AoA or speed thresholds I should observe?

Looks like I'm only able to get accurate hits when using WP coordinates, instead of TPOD.

I've attached a couple of tracks.

First one is a failed Kuznetsov strike using TPOD designation (bombs overshoot the Kuznetsov by just a bit)

Second one is a successful Kuznetsov strike using an accurate WP just over the Kuznetsov.

I use the same approach in both tracks, pretty much... flying below 50ft and firing form ~4-6nm on a gentle climb.

favorite trick of WW2 planes performing bombing runs was to attack the target at its length as opposed to width. torpedoes would be different because of obvious target size. i have seen videos stating getting coordinates from TPOD will not be exactly on the target. rather behind it. check this by getting a designation on a target and then circle it while watching it through the TPOD.

There's something funny going on with JDAMs.

Sometimes they overshoot, other times they fall short (even when firing within zone) and other times they simply fail to destroy the target (despite the fuze being set to INST and the 400+kg of high explosive, in the case of GBU-31).

Well, I’ve had an issue with LGBs where they stop tracking on any map I’ve made in the editor as soon as a patch comes out. I have to remake all my missions on a new map every time (well, if I want to use laser guided bombs). It’s like the bombs don’t see the laser. I know this is JDAM stuff but there are weird things afoot at times
