Fox2-7 Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 (edited) I experienced several bugs while playing the training lessons: Aircraft Start-Up, Taxi and Takeoff - the instructor states that the taxi speed is indicated in the top left corner of the HUD, which it isn't - my aircraft exploded once while still on the starting position Landing (Difficult) - Cockpit lightning is already on when instructed to turn it on - HSI solid lines are not working (they remain in idle position all the time as described here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/223750/discussions/2/1744480966997167054/) - The tutorial does not mention that you have to call ATC to illuminate the runway and lets you land on a dark runway at night during a thunderstorm (WTF?) - However, if the runway light is on, the rain gets lit up way to much the last 5-10 seconds before touching down creating a massive and possibly unrealistic distraction. As soon as you touched down, these effects disappear completely. I used freshly installed version from Steam, no mods installed and no key bindings changed. Flappie Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 (edited) I experienced several bugs while playing the training lessons: Aircraft Start-Up, Taxi and Takeoff - stall warning triggers randomly during start-up (as discussed here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/223750/discussions/0/135508031955276359/) This is not a DCS bug. The real thing AoA measurement is affected by wind when on the ground (link). You can silence the stall alarm with RShift+N (reset audible alarm) - but don't forget to unsilence it once in the air! :smilewink: - 10 kilometres per hour is never indicated in the top left corner of the HUD, lowest value is 80 This is not a DCS bug. When taxiing, I recommend using the IAS/TAS indicator: - my aircraft exploded once while still on the starting position I don't know what happened to you. If it happens to you again, you can post the track file (.trk) of your mission here, so someone can tell you what went on. Landing (Basic) - When instructed to press Left Ctrl and ` (the key next to 1) the HUD changes as described, but the tutorial does not continue (as discussed here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/223750/discussions/0/666826250931272978/) You might have been in Pause mode. Next time it happens, press "Pause" key. It works well in current "stable" version as well as in current open beta version. See: Landing (Difficult) - Cockpit lightning is already on when instructed to turn it on - HSI solid lines are not working (they remain in idle position all the time as described here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/223750/discussions/2/1744480966997167054/) You're right, the cockpit lighting is already on when the player is asked to put it on. The HSI is OK, even in the video shown in your Steam link. Please don't follow the green circle on the HUD: use the HSI instrument. EDIT: please note that the HSI backlighting needs some love. It's being investigated. - The tutorial does not mention that you have to call ATC to illuminate the runway and lets you land on a dark runway at night during a thunderstorm (WTF?)You're right, the mission needs some modification here. - However, if the runway light is on, the rain gets lit up way to much the last 5-10 seconds before touching down creating a massive and unrealistic distraction. As soon as you touched down, these effects disappear completely. :idea:I haven't check that part, but the mission title says "Difficult", right? :smilewink: In a more serious note, you have to know that night lighting is being worked on since a few updates). CCIP Mode, Unguided Bombing - When instructed to press D, nothing happens (and the tutorial does not continue) when pressing D :idea:Again, you might have been in Pause mode. Next time this happens, press "Pause" key. At this moment I stopped playing. I wonder how many bugs the "full" game has when I encountered so many serious bugs within the first 60 minutes of playing. I marked the bugs that feel especially painful with . Without these serious issues I might have overlooked the other ones. I see only one confirmed mission bug here, and also the HSI backlighting issue. However, you WILL encounter an important number of bugs in the game. This is mainly due to: The old "spaghetti" code inherited from the former ED games (Flanker, Lock On and Flaming Cliffs). ED is currently working on squashing a lot of core bugs. The complexity of the game and the number of playable modules. When an update shows up, ED and third parties have a LOT of things to test. They generally rely on beta testers to indicate new bugs. Thank you very much for letting ED devs know about the bugs and issues you encounter. Let's make this game better and better. Edited July 4, 2020 by Flappie ---
Fox2-7 Posted July 5, 2020 Author Posted July 5, 2020 Thank you very much for the answer. It is nice to hear that the posts in this part of the forum are being read and some issues are already known and being worked on. - 10 kilometres per hour is never indicated in the top left corner of the HUD, lowest value is 80 This is not a DCS bug. [...] The instructor states that the taxi speed is indicated in the top left corner of the HUD, which it clearly isn't (see picture). I will reword my description in my initial post to better reflect this. You might have been in Pause mode. Next time it happens, press "Pause" key. It works well in current "stable" version as well as in current open beta version [...] I tried it again and it works now, maybe I mixed up LSHIFT and LCTRL as the behaviour is similar and can be mistaken. I will remove this issue from my initial post. :poster_oops: The HSI is OK, even in the video shown in your Steam link [...] I'm not sure if we watched the same video. I took a screenshot from linked in the thread on steam and highlighted some things (it is hard to see though): Note that the runway is in sight but the HSI glideslope bar and localizer line do not behave as described by the instructor. However, if the runway light is on, the rain gets lit up way to much the last 5-10 seconds before touching down creating a massive and unrealistic distraction. As soon as you touched down, these effects disappear completely. [...] In a more serious note, you have to know that night lighting is being worked on since a few updates). Good to hear that this issue is being worked on. I would like to criticise less that it is "unrealistic" (as I never experienced how it really looks in reality when a Su-25T touchs down during a thunderstorm at night ) and criticise more the sudden change as soon the the wheels touch the ground which is more clearly unrealistic. I might make a video of it in the future to better back this issue up ... Again, you might have been in Pause mode. Next time this happens, press "Pause" key. For some reason, the "D" key wasn't mapped property. I will take this issue off the list.
Flappie Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 (edited) The instructor states that the taxi speed is indicated in the top left corner of the HUD, which it clearly isn't (see picture). I will reword my description in my initial post to better reflect this. Oh yes, good point. I guess it's a copy-paste from another aircraft training mission. Anyway, it needs to be changed. Note that the runway is in sight but the HSI glideslope bar and localizer line do not behave as described by the instructor. OK, I got it! You were talking about the ILS part of the HSI. But Matt precisely says this during the approach: "Being that Beslan does not have [iLS]..." No bug here. Here you go. It was filmed on the current release version. Please don't mind my crappy landing. :megalol: I'll make a new thread for this. EDIT: done. Edited July 5, 2020 by Flappie ---
Flappie Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Update: I've just found that it's not a visual bug. Actually, the three projectors are turned off as soon as the aircraft lands. I'll add this info on the new thread. ---
bilbosmeggins Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Regarding the inexplicable explosion..... Did you press F2 to have a peep? Whenever I randomly explode, a quick press of F2 usually reveals an errant plane or jeep embedded in my jacksie :(
Flappie Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Oh, I forgot to answer you about this, sorry. I think I know the answer. I edited the mission and found out that the aircraft parking slot in not properly saved in the mission. Open the misson editor and edit mission \DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Su-25T\Missions\Training\01- Su-25T Start Up.miz Select the aircraft: you will see her parking number is "15". Now move the aircraft a little bit. As soon as you release the mouse, the aircraft teleports to the real parking slot 15, which is further east of its initial position, between two IL-76MD. Select the aircraft and change her paking slot to 31. Tadaaa, the aircraft is back on her initial spot. Please try this, save the mission and see if this fixes your issue. ---
