Munxter Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Hi. Really enjoying this, but got to the end of one (100s miles from RTB) and ran out of fuel, there’s no tanker available nor can I find myself (or anyone else) on the map. Is this intentional? Other than these issues, great work!

Hmmm I think you must have gone wrong somewhere, with the A10s fuel efficiency you should never have any fuel issues in the campaign, which mission was it and where abouts were you?
Munxter Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Yep, me going wrong is probably right! I think it was mission 5 - once we'd quelled the oncoming attack near the Port, we were RTBd but was running on fumes at this point (I did have to make multiple 'go-arounds' mainly due to not getting my JDAM setup correctly and later, not being exactly on a 20dg heading according to JTAC!) Still don't show up on the map though That said, it's a superb campaign.

Even with a long loiter over target you should be ok for fuel, once the port attack is finished just follow Davy (or waypoints) back to Al Minhad. F10 map is disabled in the campaign which is intentional but you should see contacts in the TAD. You can always abort the final task if you go bingo as well. Glad you're enjoying! 1
Munxter Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Thanks for clearing that...I think!!! this is the most challenging campaign yet and makes a nice change to act as wingman rather than lead of AI. Awesome job mate

It's on the ED store at the moment: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/products/campaigns/a-10c_operation_persian_freedom_campaign/ It will be out on Steam soon hopefully, unfortunately I cannot say when as this is out of my control.
Silver_silver Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 This is a great campaign - really well put together and demanding - really immersive. Up there with The Enemy Within. Just had an interesting interraction with mission 14. It is great that you have built the clouds in - they make a huge difference to the feel of it - but is mission 14 supposed to be the way I experienced it? The cloud base / heavy rain I had in the target area was c.400ft agl. The FAC instructions seem to expect you to be able to spot targets on the TGP. Almost impossible when flying by hand circling at 350ft in an area while avoiding manpads! If that is the itention, fair enough, but the ferry to get there is very long, and as you are not lead, it is hard to ctrl-z it. If for example, you flew into the ground trying to spot the later wave of targets, and had to start again......

The weather on this one is currently not as intended, rain pre and post 2.7 are vastly different as I'm sure you know. Originally we had some cloud and a little drizzle, not the low visibility we see now, its just the way the settings transferred across with 2.7. All missions have been updated to new standards...just waiting on ED to push it out to you folks in an update. 1

I tried again, even with labels I ran out of talent with the cloud that low. I will wait for the update to progress, do you know when it is coming? Thanks

Tobur Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Really enjoying this up to now. But I am really stuck in mission 5 (?). It's the combined attack on Qeshm Island. Trying to follow the JTAC's instructions to attack the single T55 from a certain attack angle (I think it's 280°). Whatever I do, the JTAC is not ok with my performance and orders me to break off ("winter, winter"). I am certain I come from 280° and I don't know what I am doing wrong. Any hints for me?

Hi Tobur, sorry you're having issues. There will be 2 conditions you need to meet to get a cleared hot call. For this task when you press space your heading must be within a specific arc (280 is correct) and you must be over the IP, from what you've said it sounds like you aren't correctly over the IP. For this task IP is position Charlie in sector 3 (see kneeboards for the map to help interpret this). This zone to detect IP is about 1.3 miles in radius, I've attached screenshot of zone (SECTOR 3 CHARLIE) if it helps. Hope that helps, also worth noting you can still attack targets and complete tasks without being cleared hot if you ever struggle...although you lose points and the JTAC will reprimand you. From this mission onwards you will see the JTAC system quite a lot, it's always IP position and heading that you need to meet to get clearance. Edited May 30, 2021 by ChillNG 1
Tobur Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Many thanks for this answer. I will give it another shot, really want to beat this. I like the whole atmosphere of the missions, would be a pity if I cheated myself through this. Thanks again, much appreciated! 1
Tobur Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 Thanks again for the tip, I did it finally! I was just not close enough to the AO. Same happened to me with the last attack on the city but I also found the right spot at the end. Happy to hop into the next mission, really enjoying it

amishmike Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Having a hard time finding the comm tower SW of the troops position in mission 8. I get the right heading 330 and then when I think I'm lined up I get an abort, go around situation so the part I think I'm missing is finding the right tower to start from. Is it the same tower used in the previous 9-line(s)?

You want to be looking at route 'Colombia', this is the road running up the valley on the east. Hope that helps!

I killed the wrong guys though at least I know how to get cleared hot now! Awesome missions by the way!

However should still be able to see in the TAD as far as I know...I always hook on to them in the TAD, not sure on why you cannot see them. Wingman is set to get airborne under his own steam, takes a few minutes for him to do so, so make sure you wait for him to get in the air then order into formation through F10... hopefully you'll be able to spot in the TAD then. Sorry for necroing this, but this maybe explains why my wingman in mission 4 yesterday kept flying a holding pattern just north of the departure airfield, I think it was about at that time that I edited my NET ID/GP to match... Maybe shouldn't have done that?
