Hey cool people. I just dropped a 1000 pounder onto a Road bridge in the Channel map that enemy units did traverse over not long before then I hit it with a AGM-154C & it's still standing. Anyone have ideas about this? I would've thought WWII bridges would've been easy seeing as a heap of them were blown in that theater. I only tried the one bridge though.

I used an A-20 ai, to drop 2 1000 lb bombs on a target crossing a bridge and the bridge remained standing, but the tank slowly dropped into the river, as if on a lift.

How strange!

Yea that's pretty weird. I posted a Bridge bombing mission a while back called The Bridges of Beslan & in that map they all destructed awesomely.

Using a Harrier with Mk 82, the bridge was destroyed.

Placing an armoured vehicle on the bridge, the bridge was destroyed, but the vehicle was left undamaged, suspended in mid air.

Using a Spitfire with 500 lb bomb, the bridge was destroyed and the vehicle was destroyed, then descended slowly into the canal (about 2 mins), then blew up.

Edit: Only an amphibious vehicle, as this was, can be placed on a bridge over water, hence the peculiar behaviour.

The "lift drop" thing seems quite common in DCS. I've observed similar on the Caucasus map where the target vehicle is on a bridge when a weapon hits.

Maybe in their final throes they were requesting a repair? The ‘lift drop’ thing has been breaking undercarriages after repair lately.
