Hello

Is it true that ED is overhauling the AI in the simulation? I hope so, I have tested various scenarios & it's difficult to get my wingman/flight to attack ground targets, especially with laser guided weapons. When they do attack they usually miss with LGB's.

I've also noticed that if one sets up 'primary targets ' in the ME, the flight or wingman will not engage unless they do a pass by first!! This is rather hazardous as they are likely to be shot down off a SAM.

Even when they are carrying GPS weapons they first need to spot the target on the ground before engaging.

When testing a anti ship cruise missile, the wing man will release without a fly pass (thankfully), but many times the missile will not reach a target. When they do the missiles all attack the same ship.

*Hopefully the AI will be overhauled in future, thanks for your great work on the rest of this fantastic sim (just sort the AI) :)

Yeah, the AI for wingmen needs a lot of work. Especially the part where they jettison all their stores the first time they get shot at, inbound to the target.

Definitely some issues here but with trial and error you can get the AI to play ball but can require a combination of unit settings and various triggers.

I never use the standard wingman AI now in my missions. I use the trigger action AI task push combined with the follow task to order them into formation. If you set the aircraft role to ground attack you get the bombing task available... this can again be combined with AI task push. I find this a more reliable way of getting AI to attack static ground targets.

In general I've found this approach to be more effective, if admittedly not perfect.
