left & right DDI still not as bright as it was...

The latest update fixed a bit of the sunlight washout on the left & right DDI but they are still not as bright as before these issues started.

Agreed. Reflection and non-readable font issue seems to have been fixed, however not much brightness in the DDI's graphics/fonts with everything turned up in day mode. I still the having the issue with the age old fuzzy/large HUD display, which I believe is due to using a 1 display option and set at a large view to cover 3 displays. That is still not fixed.

 

That being said, the background of the DDI 'CRT' is pretty spot on with the real thing now. ED got rid of that washed out look. I hope they do not change that again.

 

FYI: ALL my initial testing of any updates is my default mission. Instant Action->F/A-18C->Nevada->Ready on Ramp

 

Attached: 2.5.6.5296 OB update cockpit view. Great looking DDI's now, just a little dim on the text/display. HUD is still blurry though. Also show a rear seat view of the panel in actual F/A-18 for comparison, so DDI's are close. Sure a lot better iMHO.

This is really weird to me. I usually have to turn down my HUD and both DDIs when flying the included missions. At the start all of mine look more like the HUD Noluck's pic. What settings could we compare to try to figure this out?

No user setting that I know of. If you look around, ED is aware of the issue and is working on it. It is better than before the last OB update.

The new Hornet cockpit (after last week's OB update) looks fantastic in 4K. They FINALLY fixed the blurry, thick DDI symbology in full 4K. It now looks terrific! Well done, team. :thumbup:

I have found with the latest update that the readability of the DDI's has decreased dramatically unless I lean in for a closer look (I am using the Oculus Rift S). Previously I was able to clearly make out the writing on the DDI's in my normal seated position without leaning in to get close to the screens.

 

Also, the HUD and HMD display is very dim at full brightness.

 

Anyone else find this?

Interesting. In full 4K res. (2D) the DDI's are clearer than ever.

I just played on a server at night and even the symobology of the buttons around AMPCD are blury where they used to be clear...

I'm not sure but it's possible part of the issue is what's good for monitor playing and what's good for VR may not be supported the same way.

 

Do the Devs test in both...?

 

I'm sure they are seeing discontent all over the VR forum.

Overall brightness in the F/A-18C displays and console back-lighting has dropped in the last update, 2.5.6.52437.

 

 

Went to fly a MP last night and could hardly read the DDI's, much less the MPCD. Also to mention, the DAY and NIGHT function on the MPCD is reversed, day setting is now less bright than the night setting.

 

I joined the DCS crew about 10 months ago after seeing the F/A-18C demo video. I said "damn, I have to have that!". The displays no longer look like the ones in the per-release demo video made by ED. I know they are trying to improve the display quality, in fact the last update fixed the direct sun readability issue, the face of the displays is no longer 'smudged' with finger prints or whatever that was. Nice dark green background which now looks realistic, at least to me and photo's of actual cockpits.

 

Now we are fighting a overall lighting issue, the text/font is very dim - you have to zoom in to see it. I know ED is trying to fix, but one issue gets fixed and then another pops up. It's very aggravating.
