ZHeN Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 (edited) Hmm... watching it again, I'm changing my mind: I don't believe there is a second SAM. I think the manuver of the jet, was done with somewhat mild maneuvers, the missile appeared somewhat in the video, but then disappeared from view... rather than go well past the jet, I think after it was no longer visible on video, it turned to intercept your new manuver... and loosing a huge amount of energy and speed. Now it's trying to intercept you, only slightly faster than you are going... and seconds later it finally catches up and kaboom. Same missile, but after your first maneuvers, having very little advantage. Now, if after your first maneuver, you'd have done a powerdive, full AB, maybe you could have depleted it's energy even more, extended some distance away, and ended up with far more energy than the now useless missile? Or maybe try notching? yea, his terminal maneuver slowed him down a lot, so even a slow trashed missile could've reached ... you do have a point indeed Edited July 25, 2020 by ZHeN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GazAce Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 My friend Tacview can be used with whatever goal you have in your mind. The most important is the deep analysis in a combat or flight. Install Tacview, run the track, open the Tacview generated after replay the track, see every detail you need analyze. Thanks for your advice & input but I think the moment has passed & don't care enough now, too busy with a mission build. Fri13 Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 No no!! Don't just accept what we claim we saw, we just have a lower res youtube... you need to look close and maybe slow motion with the original video file to have a better idea! So if no one can confirm the second missile, then it is by the first missile. I'm just saying I THINK it was a second missile that hit you, after the first missed you. The second one arrived only one or two seconds after the first, probably fired right after the first. I can't see from the phone screen, as already the missile that arrives from the right side disappears behind the aircraft in the video as its bad camera angle etc. A missile point of view would have been nice. But all these always requires more information than just a video of it, like angles of radar and missile relation to target etc. A tacview is great in that as it allows anyone else to nicely check the scenario. The main problem still is that the DCS World does not have even close to realistic SAM simulation, not even close. They are so oversimplified that nothing has really changed since Flanker series in 90's. The programmed logic and functions are so simple that they just barely perform their function in the game. It really is just "You are in range of SAM, it gets launched and flies at you with speed etc like these". And if no one cares about the real performance data of the detection, launch, flight, guidance etc as long there is just "Boom if in range", then nothing happens to improve it. But there is work to be done at this moment to fix it, and hopefully they do it very thoroughly. As SAM simulation should much closer to develop a new module than just new missile. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Eldur Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 the missile you see in the video is trashed, he got hit by another one I've watched the vid three times, haven't seen a missile at all. But if the thing does what I think it does, I've just seen a Maverick do the same a few days ago and even GB-12s do that in the past. BTW what is it will all the audio-less videos lately? New kind of challenge on the interwebz? They seem to grow popularity a lot these days and I think it's weird.
