apolloace Posted July 24, 2020 Share Posted July 24, 2020 I am attaching pictures of probably incorrect orientation of aircraft parked at Bandar Abbas in PG Map. I am on Open Beta latest. The parking spots in question are from F06 to F12, where the planes are facing away from each other. All other planes are facing towards each other in the adjacent parking positions, except F06 through to F12. Can someone please verify? Fun fact: the only aircraft seen in Bandar Abbas with Google Maps is parked on one of these spots and.... he's facing the hangar. Don't accept indie game testing requests from friends in Discord. Grimes Posted July 25, 2020 Share Posted July 25, 2020 Its more to do with the AI spawning in the direction of the shortest path to the runway. The taxi paths the AI are given follow the lines for the most part and aside for a few exceptions the orientation of a parking spot is not fixed. When using 21L they will be oriented like that. If the active runway is 03R then all of the aircraft would be pointing inward because they taxi to the the 3rd from the north taxiway connecting to the runway. Interestingly it doesn't look like that northernmost taxiway has AI paths on it, otherwise all of the aircraft would be pointing outward when using 21L. Just an idiosyncrasy of how the base is setup for AI it seems. I think the only time orientation is forced is when there are the intake warning markings, for example at Groom Lake. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. When I change the active runway from 21L to 03R by changing the wind direction, all the parked aircraft are facing each other (screenshot attached). But, now they all have to taxi a bit longer, because the sim is using the 03R as the active runway.
