Odd Trackir4 question

Looking to upgrade from trackir2 to trackir4. Looking forward to the improved function but realised the trackir4 sits differently on the monitor. I have a 30" TFT monitor and the panel width is a wopping 5cm!

 

Will the arms that saddle the panel fit?

 

Sorry for the litany of upstart questions....learning to love the game once more:)

Should fit. The inner distance between both legs is 55 mm , so it should be possible to clamp it onto a 5 cm screen. The way you clamp it is the same that you would do with a Laptop.

For interest's sake - what would the Optimum size of Monitor be to be as close to "The Real Picture" as possible? Anybody got any ideas?

Yeah, I always looked for a monitor that would make cockpit instruments appear in same size as it would be IRL.

 

So if HUD of F-15 is 7 inches wide, which monitor size would make it appear the same with default magnification (no zoom +/-)?!

I use a projector which allows quite a bit of adjustment to preference. I put my tackIR 3 behind me and configure accorddingly. However, the expense took me several years of saving, it require alot of room and engeneering. you will also want to use a rear projection screen to get a good eye level

Aye - would love to see LockOn like that. Currently running a PS3 through a 42" LG HDTV and the likes of Assassins Creed and CoD4: Modern Warfare look pretty sweet Indeed :D

I know that big screens require high resolution and you sacrifice FPS.

 

But I'd like to have a monitor that would display instruments of RL size.

 

I don't like zoomin in and out with my head (zoom disabled in my TIR profile).
