NavyAce Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 I am trying to get my aircraft and terrain modules installed in DCS World 2.5.6 and I have a question. The installer installed the first two downloads fairly quickly (installer and transfer of v 2 files) but the third one (delta index has been running for over four hours now. I do have a slow computer. What is the delta index and is this a normal download time? Any clarification would be appreciated. NavyAce
Tinkickef Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Terrain files are huge and it is usually these that take a long time. System spec: i9 9900K, Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Ultra motherboard, 32Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200 RAM, Corsair M.2 NVMe 1Tb Boot SSD. Seagate 1Tb Hybrid mass storage SSD. ASUS RTX2080TI Dual OC, Thermaltake Flo Riing 360mm water pumper, EVGA 850G3 PSU. HP Reverb, TM Warthog, Crosswind pedals, Buttkicker Gamer 2.
NavyAce Posted August 11, 2020 Author Posted August 11, 2020 Thanks Tinkickef for responding so quickly. One last question if I may. If I let the computer run overnight and look in at noontime, which will be 24 hours from the start time, wouold you estimate that even with my slow computer everything would be done by then? Do you think maybe sooner? I'm four hours in right now and I assume from what you say that this is not unusual. Any guess you could make would be greatly appreciated.
Nirvi Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 Make sure you have enough free disk space. I have waited for hours to complete a download, but there was no progress. Finally realised I had no diskspace left for the download. Serious uglies Discord 4YA - Project Overlord WW2 Server My DCS Videos
NavyAce Posted August 12, 2020 Author Posted August 12, 2020 Thanks Nirvi. Here's a follow up question. I was about 15 hours into the delta index download (these as above are I guess huge terrain files) with the program still running as evidenced by the moving green and when I got up I found our power had gone out. I rebooted the computer but don't see any modules installed. When power is lost and the computer shuts itself off does this mean that all of the downloading I had accomplished was lost and I'll have to start over? Or is it saved somewhere. If I have to restart from scratch should I click on the OK button in the module install box or click on the Install button off to the right. I had previously used the former. Thanks.
NavyAce Posted August 12, 2020 Author Posted August 12, 2020 I just checked and found out that I have 609 GB free of 930 GB total
rayrayblues Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 Thanks Nirvi. Here's a follow up question. If you interrupt an update or download, it will remember where you left off. If you watch when you restart the download, it will say "checking for already downloaded files." It will then continue from there. SLAVA UKRAINI MoBo - ASUS 990FX R2 Sabertooth, CPU - AMD FX 9590 @4.7Gb.
