So it's a Heatblur/DCS issue

@Alphabet_GhostHey, thanks for the tip!

@=Skywarp=I've found more info here. Go into "\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\F14\Sounds\sdef\Walkman". You'll see text files showing what track names the game is expecting for A and B sides.

Example: BSideSong1.sdef

wave = "Walkman/BSideSong1"
pitch = 1.0
gain = 0.8
--streaming = true

What you need to do is to create the following files in "\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\F14\Sounds\Walkman":

  • BSideSong1.ogg
  • BSideSong2.ogg
  • BSideSong3.ogg
  • BSideSong4.ogg
  • BSideSong5.ogg
  • BSideSong6.ogg
  • BSideSong7.ogg
  • BSideSong8.ogg
  • BSideSong9.ogg
  • BSideSong10.ogg

You can simply copy-paste tracks from side A and rename them accordingly to begin with.

I've just tested it, and it seems to work.

Still a bug, though: it shouldn't crash when B side songs don't exist (which is default situation).

OK, in the "sdef/Walkman" folder I deleted Songs 6-10 and BSide Songs 6-10

And in the "Walkman" folder I renamed Songs 6-10 as BSide Songs 1-5

Works pretty now!!

Hey Flappie, Heatblur still didn't correct it in the last updates. I still have to fix it manually after a file repair.

Can you report them?

  • @=Skywarp= I'm unable to reproduce the crash, with both current stable and open beta. I removed both "sdef" and "Walkman" folders, repaired, then tried again, to no avail. This seems fixed to me.

If you can still reproduce the crash, please attach you crash ZIP and a screenshot of the "Walkman" folder containing the tracks.
