When I arrive at the target area on Mission 1, I'm getting annihilated. I think mostly by Roland ADS. Would just like to know if anyone has good advice for surviving long enough to empty my weapon stations? I've got DOTS turned on to compensate for low visibility on my 17" laptop screen, so I can make out where ground targets are, but no idea which are tanks and which are air defence systems. I'm also popping countermeasures almost constantly.

Feels like I was dropped in at the deep end. I've had maybe 5 attempts now and starting to get tired of the long flight out from Sochi.

That was helpful.

1) Make use of the mission planner. (I wasn't using it since I felt it was cheating to know exactly where everything was.)

2) Change the default loadout; no requirement for laser guided missiles.

3) Make one pass and get out, in a direction away from the SAM.

Thanks

Load up on PTAB KMGU-2 dispensers and missiles.

Fly in fast and low.
Double-tap the Gepard with 2 laser guided rockets (wasn't necessary in 2020, but since 2024 they shoot missiles down in self defense - but not 2 of them with about <= 1 second spacing).
PTAB the convoys before they disperse. Fireworks = very nice.

EDIT: If Rolands are your problem, then you probably flew in too early - stick to the flight plan, there are usually SEAD flights scheduled for the time you're supposed to hit the targets and the friendlies do make good target practice for them (and not much more, as the friendly AI seems to be very broken). Early SAMs can be avoided by running them into the ground - fly at 400-500m, when a SAM fires, get down to the deck and hope for the best.
The other way around it would be not to be running into Rolands in the first place, just keep out of their range. The only real threat is point defense AAA and Manpads IMO. Set CM dispense to auto until you are safe.
