AbuMuqawama Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Two aircraft that the Syrian have are the Mi-8 and the Mig-25. Both aren't in Syria's aircraft list in DCS and it would be nice if they were included. The Mi-8 is used currently by the Syrians for a number of missions including transport, resupply and more infamously for air to ground work, and the Mig-25 is apparently still in operation by the Syrians, though it is a rare aircraft anymore.
shu77 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Definitely agree about the MI-8, the World air force database suggests there are 2 x Syrian Mig 25s so they would be a bit of a rarity to see in the field! Knock-Knock Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Su-17/22 and Mi-24/25 is missing from the Syrian inventory too. And including liveries please. The MiG-23, MiG-29, Su-24 and L-39ZA are there, but no liveries. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
Avenger31 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I agree, we need to have Su-17/22, Mig-25 and Mi-8 on Syrian side. For mission makers it is big problem becouse they need to use Russian side to act as Syrian units. The Syrians had two squadrons worth of Mig-25s at one point, they were based at Tiyas.
Knock-Knock Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 P.s. I use the website to see what given air forces have and where. https://www.scramble.nl/planning/orbats/syria/syrian-arab-air-force - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
Knock-Knock Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 And when looking around Tiyas on Bing maps, you can see several 25's scattered all over the place. If they are airworthy or just decoys? https://www.bing.com/maps?osid=86394e9d-4647-4219-89ad-ebc6cc3b1240&cp=34.525381~37.604466&lvl=18&style=h&v=2&sV=2&form=S00027 - more on the east and north east corner. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
AeriaGloria Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Unfortunately bing maps makes it very hard to find image date, you have to use a specific API. For google earth you have to access “historical imagery” mode, which I find very finicky to get to. Tom Cooper has a great article on how it has never been proven that the MiG-25s have flown during the Civil War, and it would be really interesting to get dates for these images and more Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
AeriaGloria Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Downloaded google earth pro and looked through the last ten years of imagery for Tiyas. The MiG-25s on the south east have pretty much never moved. The north west MiGs were moved there in 2011 and two were moved away a year or two later. The MiGs on the north east have increased in number but once moved there they stay. As of 05/04:19, the MiGs are still there scattered across those three places, with a lot of them having never moved on Ed. There was one time they got close to the apron, two on 05/01/2009 were at a hangar on the north side, but I assume they were sent to what I will name “Foxbat fields” by the time of the next image taken in 2014. With that many scraps around I would believe a couple flights, but it looks like a graveyard to me Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
shu77 Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 I'll add to this the Flight Global World Airforce database for 2020 which was where my reference came from https://www.flightglobal.com/reports/world-air-forces-2020/135665.article Hornet, Super Carrier, Warthog & (II), Mustang, Spitfire, Albatross, Sabre, Combined Arms, FC3, Nevada, Gulf, Normandy, Syria AH-6J i9 10900K @ 5.0GHz, Gigabyte Z490 Vision G, Cooler Master ML120L, Gigabyte RTX3080 OC Gaming 10Gb, 64GB RAM, Reverb G2 @ 2480x2428, TM Warthog, Saitek pedals & throttle, DIY collective, TrackIR4, Cougar MFDs, vx3276-2k Combat Wombat's Airfield & Enroute Maps and Planning Tools
