RvEYoda Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 After som early testing... Mostly it seems to work fine, however there seems to be an issue connected with water detail level setting. Below I made a list of settings that give me a good result or graphics anomalies/bugs. The last one is what I'm using right now. (with "SLI" below I simply mean using both GPUs on the 9800gx2) SLI no AA water high : GOOD SLI AA water high : BUGS no SLI no AA water high : GOOD no SLI AA water high : small bugs SLI no AA water low : GOOD SLI AA water low : GOOD SLI no AA water very high : GOOD SLI AA water very high : GOOD The graphics bugs manifest themselves as flashing water textures, very rapidly and consistently from certain angles. Disabling AA OR selecting low/very high water fixes the issue. Currently using nvidia 174.53 driver with XFX 9800 gx2 in xp32bitsp2 S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
3Sqn_Fudd Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 interesting... keep us posted Yoda. Any interest in going through driver settings and looking for differences? Possibly set your ideal AA AF and in game settings, then look for best visual image quality/performance with driver setting changes. Suspect? --- Texture Filtering - Anistropic sample optimization? THreaded Optimization -Off? .... mere guesses How is 3870 X2 (i.e. single card Crossfire) reacting? Our talk on IM's Yoda got me thinking that I do need to jump onto this generation. http://3sqn.com/forum/ Here's to 1.13 -- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0488djMDBU
ED Team Groove Posted March 27, 2008 ED Team Posted March 27, 2008 Thanks for infos! Because of lack of VRAM on the 9xxx vidcards im waiting for the next gen ( G200 ). Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
TorwaK Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 9800GX2 = 2 x 8800GTS so it's better to wait for next generation cards as Groove said. RvEYoda Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 The issue has been coming back and going away. Right now it seems to have gone away. I guess this is a sign of early drivers. Generally it performs the same as a 8800 since lomac doesn't support SLI (or so I've heard, naturally I have other games which were the reason for the upgrade). However if you are thinking about 9800 and don't play anything but lomac? Don't get 9800. Another issue is that it seems to randomly select 1 of 3 different performance levels on starting lomac. ^^. What I mean with that is that I made a reference mission. I put 100 tanks under my plane where I spawn, then I setup med/high with 4aa/4af 1920x1200 and check the fps. Sometimes I get (rarely): Menu ~400 fps, in pit ~90 fps (if it launches this mode I generally just restart the game) 90% of time in menu I get: ~670 fps, in pit ~105 fps rarely, but sometimes : menu ~ 950 fps, in pit ~140 fps It is like sometimes is launches different performance modes. It seems to launch with these 3 distinctly different levels. All three with no background processes and with identical nvidia control panel settings. This card seems to have very immature drivers ;). However those times it does launch "mode 3" (or whatever you want to call it) it seems to show some pretty insane fps ingame And oh yeah, Clouds look like this for some reason =/ it happens after every reboot. The only way so far to fix this seems to be clicking random buttons (no kidding) in the nv control panel and then clicking back to what it was as after the reboot. Totally wierd :) 1 S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
3Sqn_Fudd Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Lets see if other can confirm this stuff... Interesting though http://3sqn.com/forum/ Here's to 1.13 -- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0488djMDBU

5thduke Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 hi yoda i got the 74 drivers those clouds make the game unplayable for me, any way i can disable them cheers evga e760 x58 3way mb nvidia gtx 480sc sli intell 980x 1860 dominaters triple channel corsair 800d case 2xintell m160g gen 2 ssd in raid 0 corsair hx1000 psu win 7 64 ult all fully water cooled by ek dell u2711 monitor 2560x1440 x58pro g13 plus das keybrd
RvEYoda Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 the 74 drivers work, BUT you must disable SLI (Multi GPU -> Single GPU) in application settings for lockon (Sli does not improve lockon performance anyway) This should fix your clouds : This fixes the "flashing clouds" problem. If you get "transparent clouds" like mine above WITH the 174.74 driver (174.74 should fix this) then you have some other problem. Try 8xQ AA S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
5thduke Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 ty for that trouble you went to yoda i copyed your settings much better still have the flicker but to a less degree, as not to cause any epileptic fits lol, i also turned gpu fan up in rivatuner as cards look like they run hot at stock speed. running 65% manualy seams to drop the card down by 10deg ty.please exuse spelling errors. evga e760 x58 3way mb nvidia gtx 480sc sli intell 980x 1860 dominaters triple channel corsair 800d case 2xintell m160g gen 2 ssd in raid 0 corsair hx1000 psu win 7 64 ult all fully water cooled by ek dell u2711 monitor 2560x1440 x58pro g13 plus das keybrd
5thduke Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 i just removed the cloudgen and clouds file just got a blue sky now, im sweet with it ty. evga e760 x58 3way mb nvidia gtx 480sc sli intell 980x 1860 dominaters triple channel corsair 800d case 2xintell m160g gen 2 ssd in raid 0 corsair hx1000 psu win 7 64 ult all fully water cooled by ek dell u2711 monitor 2560x1440 x58pro g13 plus das keybrd
RvEYoda Posted April 7, 2008 Author Posted April 7, 2008 You still get flickering? Hmm.. Very strange. You have the latest 174.74 drivers? (not 174.53) S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
5thduke Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 yeah 174.74 game runs realy nice now ,im not getting ure fps thou srt of arround 30-40 in cockpit.i can live without clouds try the next drivers cheers evga e760 x58 3way mb nvidia gtx 480sc sli intell 980x 1860 dominaters triple channel corsair 800d case 2xintell m160g gen 2 ssd in raid 0 corsair hx1000 psu win 7 64 ult all fully water cooled by ek dell u2711 monitor 2560x1440 x58pro g13 plus das keybrd
RvEYoda Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 Try turning on 4xAA, might help with the clouds 1 S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
The_GOZR Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Give a try to Antialiasing Transparency to Supersampling... It should fix the problem .. I had the same problem now it's gone.. 8800 GTS SLI
TheMoose Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 Give a try to Antialiasing Transparency to Supersampling... It should fix the problem .. I had the same problem now it's gone.. 8800 GTS SLI for Nvidia 175.16 that did not resolve this issue, but forcing AA to at least 4X, as mention from =RvE=Yoda did fixed it... Weird, not sure what would be the root cause... Anyhow, thanks to all...
