oldpop Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 We have "request startup", but then we we need "cleared to taxi CAT #" instructions, or as in RW deck crew hand signals to CAT!:music_whistling:
Bunny Clark Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Is this handled over the radio in the real world, or is everything done by hand signal guidance from the deck crew? Jackjack171 Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Is this handled over the radio in the real world, or is everything done by hand signal guidance from the deck crew? Once Primary calls the start, (all aircraft involved in that event will start) it is all hand signals from there. This is all at a predetermined time. As the jet comes up, the Deck caller will signal for the aircraft to get broken down and sent to what ever CAT. I'm not sure what comms the pilots go through between each other. But it is pretty much a silent symphony! ED has to work on that part and much more. Though I understand why it is the way it is initially. The Flight Deck and Flight Ops are very dynamic and complex. Ed is on the right path though. I hope this helps. DO it or Don't, but don't cry about it. Real men don't cry!
oldpop Posted September 13, 2020 Author Posted September 13, 2020 COMMS Jack is correct, after "break down"( removing chains and tiedowns), "yellow shirts" take command. They are in radio contact with "flight deck control" for what/when to do with each a/c! Some times the pilot maybe in comms with his Squadron freq/readyroom, for any last min instructions.
