I am wondering what folks like to see for weather in missions. There is quite a variety, so what are some favorites and peeves? High clouds? Fog? What seems the most realistic at different times of the day? I have been keeping my missions clear so far (cuz they look so sexy!), but I am wondering what's the next level.

In SP using dynamic is cool. It's a pain to setup though. There are a couple of guides floating around if you're interested.

23 turbulence will give a few nice bumps to landing aircraft.

In MP I only use the extremes. Either all clear or full overcast since weather isn't totally in sync for MP.

Fog is always good when it fits the situation.

Thanks, Paganus! I am a little hesitant to go full dynamic while the NWS issues linger for the F-16 because crosswinds are nasty. :) I am going to play with overcast and fog a bit. Cheers!

Either clear sky or overcast. Everything in between is just spinning cotton balls (at least if you use VR/TrackIR)

Sirrah, almost! :) Fog can be useful to create that misty morning affect. After a few days of playing, a little fog, a few mountains peeking thru the clouds, the odd torrential rain, and some really nice snow storms are the highlights. A lot can be achieved adding sunrises, sunsets, and the moon into the picture.

True. I forgot to mention the fog effect (which is ok I guess) and lighting/time of day (which can be very nice indeed)

But as far as clouds concern, it's just two flavors atm: overcast & clear

Fog is a little tricky to get right. A thin fog with maximum visibility can give Persian Gulf a nice misty affect, but it darkens the water a bit much. On Caucasus the fog looks a bit too white. At night, fog can come out too green on the Syria map.

Torrential rain with fog and minimums set to 3000 makes for a nice soup to climb in and out of.
