The latest OB and I’m trying to follow Chuck’s Guide closely and coordinates are not showing in the DDI for JDAMs in PP mode and the targeting pod doesn’t work for me

Is it me or just wait for the next update

I followed Chuck's Guide last night, and it worked for me. I didn't try out the PP mode, but I was able to transfer targets from the TPOD to the JDAMS in TOO mode. I did mess up the first time and forgot to press TDC depress to send the coordinates to the bomb. It took me a few minutes to figure out why the were missing.

I am fairly new to the F18, but it is my understanding that you cannot send coordinates from the TPOD to PP mode.

I’ll try in waypoint mode TOO I could launch JDAMS

I’ll try my luck with the Targetting Pod

1. Go to HSI page

2. Go to data

3. Hit OSB for precise

4. Go to A/C

5. Lower right OSB, hit the button once to set DEC

6. Go to stores page, select your weapon

7. Select mission

8. Select TGT UFC

9. Select POS and enter coordinates

10. Select height, even if its zero ASL, you need to enter 0 in the UFC.

11. PP should no longer be X'd out

PP MODE is ONLY used for DIRECT ENTRY of coordinates via the UFC.

Transferring coordinates from TPOD or WPDESIGNATE is always done in TOO mode.

I've found that I cannot enter 0 for Elevation (even though I was targeting Oil platforms on the ocean that the F10 map showed as 0). Any small positive value worked. There was a discussion of this on the BUGS forum. I haven't tried entering a 0 since the latest update, so maybe that is fixed. It was the case in the last STABLE release anyway

Also entering coords into the JDAM have to be done with PRECISE coordinates: DD.MM.SS.DS. (Degrees, Minutes, Seconds, Decimal Seconds) When entering, enter DD.MM.SS then hit ENTER. Then enter DS.

e.g.:

LAT:

N26.26.53.51 is entered by:

"2" (N) 262653 ENTER

51 ENTER

For WAYPOINT Data entry, with PRECISE coords, this is a little different. Enter the DD:MM ENTER and you get TTH0 in the UFC, whereupon you enter the SS and DS values.

Double Tap the NWS for VVSLV and you have to have the TDC diamond in the FLIR page for it to work. Works pretty consistently for me.

The TPOD works when you point it to the right display

The easiest way for me is waypoint designate but you have to put the target elevation in unless you like to Slew and Find Your Target

RTFM and it will work

Here's a quick tip (or maybe this is what you meant):

If your WP as set in the Mission Builder is NOT at ground level, you can go into the DATA screen in the HSI and EDIT the current WP ELEV to put it at ground level and then WP Designate for the TPOD to reduce or eliminate SLEW.
